I am a new forum member and I just bought the new 2017 Super Tenere below (dealer picture off its website). I pick it up Saturday (400 mile round trip). I have never seen or ridden a Super Tenere so I am making a leap of faith.
I am trading in my 2014 BMW R1200R (picture below). When I bought the BMW, I should have gotten the GS but I grew up in the 1970's and I wanted a plain motorcycle like I grew up with, so that is why I went with that BMW model. It has been a great bike and I enjoyed it but after about 100-200 miles my legs, hips, etc. start hurting from the leg bend. I am 55 years old, 6 feet tall and ride a dirt bike off road so the adenture touring fits me better. I did not want to put the big money out for a new BMW GS, and I am more of a Japanese bike guy (all I ever owned until the BMW), so the Yamaha makes sense. Plus, Yamaha is my favorite brand because of its quality and durability. In fact, Yamaha is what I ride off road (2015 YZ250F). I am looking forward to picking up the new bike.
