I'm in the Houston Area and have found a 2015 Super Tenere ES with full factory bags. It has less than 1000 miles on it! Looks perfect/showroom. First question is what is a good price for this? Second, is, are there any items I should be looking at as far as known issues? Lastly I'm coming from a Kawasaki Concours 14, it has been great for long distance riding, except as I got older my knees did not like the peg position. How is this bike for long distance rides?

I just rode over 3800 miles in 15 days on my new (to me) 2014 Non ES. The bike ran flawlessly. I would think somewhere in the 9K/10K range would be justified.

Do you have any knee problems? Is the seat comfy or would an aftermarket be the way to go? I'm going to test ride it this week, so will get some idea of comfort then.

No knee issues. My bike has a Sargent aftermarket seat and honestly, it's really hard and uncomfortable. No OEM seat came with the bike so I can't compare.

These bikes are excellent for long-distance touring!
I'm running the factory Seat. Don't have any issues with it.
Looks like an amazing ride!

She's not gonna have the power of the Connie. But, she's not a dog either. There are a lot of past/current FJ/FJR owners here, that are happy with their switch; self included. A member, Tombstone, just did the four corners of the US on his Tenere. And, another member, eemsreno, has over 250k miles on one of his Teneres . . . . that he's still taking trips on.

Seats, just like other accessories, are going to be a subjective, person-to-person kinda thing. FWIW, of all the bikes I've ridden, the Tenere is my favorite ever, for day in, day out riding.

Wouldn't begin to assign a fair price in the current market, but KBB would be a good starting compass. You've already found a really great bike that eats miles on and off road effortlessly. Other than farkles, I've put nothing into this machine other than fluids and wear items. It delivers.

It really depends on the rider. Some say it's great, others don't like it. I find the stock seat fine for longish day rides, but on multi-day rides the gripper cover takes its toll on my butt, tugging at the skin every time I accelerate or brake. I've tried a Sargent and Laam and they weren't any better, seating me too far back in the dished out portion and the front was hard. Seat Concepts is good bang for the buck if you don't like the seat, but give it a shot first. There's also other custom seat makers. I'm currently running a Terry Adcox seat I bought off a member here for longer rides, but use the stock seat for commuting as I can get better footing. 30" inseam.

I have bad knees and find the S10's generous legroom to be comfortable. No issues there.

I bought my '15 in '18. It came with luggage, driving lights and had about 8000 miles. I paid about 10K and thought I got a great deal. I'd pay that much for the one you're looking at.

Congrats on finding one.

ALL issues and accessories with these bikes are extremely well known and have been discussed many times. The SEARCH box is your friend.

A bunch of us came from sport tourers and the Tenere kitchen chair seating is MUCH easier on the knees. You'll find that a lot of people here have ridden long distance.

I'd been wanting a Super Tenere for several years, and I traded in my Tracer 900 this year to get a brand new 2020 ES. I'm 6'7", aka ~2m. I have some knee issues, and some lower back issues that effect my left leg. I'm working through some minor comfort issues around my knees on this bike, but it is way easier on my knees and back when compared to my Tracer; though not as nice as my old Vstrom 650, which had the adventure tech peg and control lowering plates. If you're around 6'2" or shorter, you shouldn't have any knee issues. The peg position relative to the seat is great. Nice and neutral. Even with my knees, I'm good for a couple of hours in the saddle before I need a break, and that is okay by me.

Did a 4,700 mile trip in 12 days about a month ago on my 2018 ES, fortunately I don’t have any serious knee issues , the stock seat was ok for rides not much over 200 miles but after that I usually had miner backaches so switched to a Corbin, the Corbin does work quite a bit better than stock but it’s to hard and slippery, right now I’m planning on ordering a RDL Russel Day Long, a friend bought one a couple years ago and loaned it to me for a week so I put about 500 very comfortable miles on it. It’s a little taller than I would prefer but I will be discussing that with them when I place the order.

I'm not a huge fan of the stock seat. I switched to a Corbin and like the firmness but it's a little slippery. I added a beadrider seat cover and found both seats were much improved, but I still preferred the Corbin (with the Beadrider). It's such a personal thing that you won't know until you get to riding.

I came from a 2018 BMW R1200RT and an FJR. The ST10 is a tractor as far as the 1st 4 gears go. It took some getting used to. I put over 10K miles on this summer in three separate trips. Compared to the BMW, it is just as good of a bike for long hauls. I have had the seated re foamed and shaped due to tailbone issues. Maintenance is a lot easier on this bike the the FJR or BMW.

FWIW, I've used 303 aerospace protectant on all varied outdoor gear for 20 years and have avoided crazing, cracking, fading, and decomposition of materials with its use. As they say, it's SPF for your stuff. That said, it has a slight lubricity to it and as I use it on my ST that also includes the seat. Sprayed/wiped on when needed, it offers a particular 'slide' in the saddle that really improves comfort in respect to the tugging you mentioned. As I use it regularly, its application to the seat occurs automatically and I praise its presence often.

Not sure what height you are. I'm right at 6' with 32" inseam. The first year or so I rode with the seat in the low position because I wanted to be able to flat foot stops. Then I went for a longer ride and my knees started killing me. Moved the seat higher and never went back. Much better, and I just use toes or lean more for stops. Only time I put the seat down now is for the rare occasion my wife rides with me.

Thanks for the tip. Which one are you using, they sell a few that look similar. 30350, 30302, 30305 etc.

Sure thing. I'm unfamiliar with the entirety of their product line, but please find the accompanying link to the gallon I buy. Not suggesting that you get a gal, although you might just do that one day... It's that good. For your reference here's a few of the places where it's served me flawlessly since I began using it: Backpacks, plastic buckles ,nylon strap(ping), kayaks, canoes, PFD's, buoyancy compensators, cars, all motorcycle plastic, tankbag, soft-bags, GPS, instrumentation, hats, gloves, and light lenses to name a few. All those items have retained their original color, vibrance, and functionality.

Thinking about those things reminds me that in their early days they used to boast that it was skin-safe and I can attest it will serve well in that role. I don't represent them, but upon further thought I should probably look into their stock.

Thanks for all the responses, I think I'm going to get it, mostly because it is an incredible deal I was offered!
