After lurking here then registering and extensively comparing all the "Adventure" bikes........ I'm the guy that bought Slugo65's 2012 Blue Tenere! Not only did I get a bike farkled out...I made a new friend! Uncanny how much Slugo65 and I have in common! Not only did I buy the best bike; but bought it from the best person! He is as meticulous about maintenance as myself! He spoke highly of everyone on this forum and recommended getting advice here. Thank You, again Slugo65 (I think I already Thanked Him at least 30 times!
I also currently own a highly customized a 2005 Honda VTX 1300C. It's a toss up whether I keep the VTX or not....I put so much work in to it and customized it just the way I like it. Like I expect the S10 to be; My VTX has been pretty trouble free.
I researched all the Adventure bikes and had narrowed down to the KTM 1190 Adventure or the Super Tenere. Price and Value along with the best reliability record is what won me over. As well as great aftermarket availability. Only downside to the S10 I could find was its weight and horsepower. But I learned that other bike makers fudge their weight numbers and after sitting on and testing ALL the other bikes...The S10 didn't feel any different in weight. Plus the torque makes up for the weight. As far as HP....The s10 is in the upper middle of the pack and can be increased to be up there with the rest of them via reflash. But to me torque was more important as I plan to carry a lot of stuff for motocamping.
I live in Ft. Worth, Texas and it seems there's a good stable of S10 riders that live here in Texas and RideoOnAdv is not far from me!
Love the term "farkle" Never heard that before here and it's a great descriptive word! Did it start here?
I flew down to Austin, Texas where Slugo65 lives and we spent the entire day taking care of the paperwork and stuff that goes with buying a bike. Hung out, and I rode the bike 200 miles to my house here in Ft. Worth. The ride home was great! Coming from a cruiser the route I took was perfect for getting me acquainted with the bike! Speed limits were 75 mph, there were a few twisties a lot of curves and I got caught in a downpour and half the ride was in the dark on the interstate. By the time I got home I felt bonded with the bike.
I name my machines and named her "Boo."
Next up Clutch basket, Cam chain tensioner and auxiliary lights. The stock headlight bulbs are in and I was surprised how well the worked for me. I was kind of worried after reading some threads here.
Looking forward to participating and learning here and of course riding!

I am a long time rider but new to the Super Tenere and this forum. I am from Warner Robins, GA, and have been riding since 1966. I bought a new '15 Tenere ES in January of this year and have been setting it up for a trip to Alaska next summer. It has been the hottest summer I can remember in middle GA so I have not put in the miles I normally put in. I did ride it 538 miles yesterday, while collecting bonus sites in the Grand Tour of Georgia. Back in June some friends and I rode up to Nashville, TN, and then rode all the way down the Natchez Trace Parkway. It was terribly hot and the seat on my ST was brutal to my butt. I purchased an almost new Laam Seat on Ebay and my butt issues are a non issue. 538 miles yesterday was so much easier on the Laam seat. I have raised my handlebars with some ROX risers, installed a Yamaha optional tall windscreen, and installed some Givi engine guards. The Givi guards also made it possible for me to engineer and build some mounts for a set of highway pegs. Having a comfortable seat, bars easy to reach while sitting and standing, and some highway pegs to stretch my old legs have made this m/c so much more fun to ride. The bike now has just over 4,000 miles on it and I have just about got it set up like I want it. Almost forgot, I added a fuzeblock under the lower right side fairing panel, to enable easy connection for all my electronic devices. I built a shelf to go on the bar behind the windscreen that is designed for gps etc. In this shelf I mounted an Onyx XM radio receiver and a Rock Box motorcycle radio with inputs for my XM radio and output for my on board autocom with helmet speakers.
I also have a BMWK1200LT that I have 64K miles on. I guess I got spoiled with all the luxuries on this bike and I just had to have some tunes on my ST. My ST will probably never see any serious off roading because I reserve that riding for my Suzuki DRZ400S. All this being said, I am very happy with my ST with one exception. I hate the ride by wire throttle response. I am sure there are others that feel the same way I do. I was told early on that I would get used to it. Well I can ride the bike and enjoy it but I will never get used to the jerky throttle response. I have heard some people have sent their ECU boxes to California for re-flashing (mapping). I hate having a brand new motorcycle that is still under factory warranty with issues that are only solvable by spending more money with an aftermarket vendor. My local dealer so far has offered nothing except tell me get used to it. I have owned and ridden dozens of motorcycles that don't have this issue. My BMW has EFI although it is not RBW and it doesn't have throttle response issues. Have any of you had better results from Yamaha? Thanks :)

First, to xclimation congratulations on your new ride, and welcome to the forum from Wisconsin. Smitty, you kind of hijacked this thread, but congratulations and welcome also. The jerky throttle you refer to is a common complaint on the S10 along with other fuel injected bikes. I know, it's really the only issue I have with mine also. There is a lot of info on this forum pertaining to throttle response. I'll give you a quick rundown on what I did to mine to make it better, although not perfect. Mine is a 2013 by the way, so there may be some changes to your 2015.
1) remove the excess play in the throttle cables, very easy to do
2) adjust the idle mixture screws on your throttle bodies. There is a step by step procedure on this forum with pictures
3) synchronize the throttle bodies at the same time, also covered on this forum
4) The ECU has a setting for CO that is accessible through your in dash display. The factory setting is 0, increase this to at least 6 in each cylinder. I have mine set at 12.
5) I have a throttle tamer on mine also. It's a throttle tube with a different profile cam in it. I am using a 400 series cam. Check them out on their website.
Again, you can check out all this info on this forum by using the search feature. Good luck

Sorry Guys, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. Just introducing myself and got carried away. Magic, I will look into the suggestions you have given me. I did PM ac about his re-flashing and I also looked at other possibilities. I will probably try the free stuff first. Thanks for the greeting RoboCop! Cooler weather is just around the corner for us southerners and I am ready to check out the fall foliage. Ride Safely,

Thanks Jeff. Will do. I love the riding in the Texas Hill Country and it has been quite a few years since I have been out that way. Enjoy and be safe!
