Hi all

Name is Chris. Don't have a a bike yet so no pics, am lining up a new one for the 1st March so I can get a 15 plate (no point rushing in for a 64 in this weather....).
It will be my first (and probably last ever) brand new motorbike. Will be swapping from a 1998 VFR 800 so a bit of a change.

I will need some help 'accessorising' or farkling as it appears to be known here but I'll probably drop that question in the Modifications section

Cheers, Chris

Welcome!

I was fortunate enough to visit Edinburgh back in Oct of 1986 while serving in the US Marines. I have to say it was one of my all time favorite ports cities that I've been to (there have been many). The people were super friendly and helpful when I was trying to get around town.
It was also my first experience with REAL beer and ale. I was dumb founded when I leaned most if not all of the little pubs brewed their own beer and ale. I had a hard time getting out of a bar/pub without a least one person buying me a pint of something.

Then there was the young ladies..... and some not so young as well. My buddies and I came to the conclusion there must be something in the water due to the high number of really nice looking women.... ::003::

Hi Chris, a warm welcome from the North West ::004::. My son is living in Edinburgh at the moment, I've been up to see him a few times, love the city. I will probably go up on the bike in Spring

Howdy,

I have thrown a lot of gear and mods at my 2011 so may be able to help when you know what you are looking for.

As a starter I would suggest a Givi Airflow screen if you find the OE one a bit lacking, and try and get the dealer to throw in the wingletts ::008::

Hi, ::004:: I'm a new boy myself. I'm a regular visiter to Edinburgh, my best mate lives in the west end. My favourite city in all of the UK (except for Liverpool ;D) Berts Bar in William street is a regular watering hole, and Mathers bar off Leith road.

Welcome! Was just in Edinburgh for business. One of my favo(u)rite cities in a fine riding country. Check out the "Farkle Remorse" thread. Be prepared, because I don't think your typical Scottish penny-pinching ways will get you too far! :D

Ha. Funnily enough my Dad lives in Belmont near Bolton. Thats where I grew up!! When I first got a bike the first trips I made in the North West were the obligatory trips to Rivington Barn and up to Devils Bridge!!

Thanks for all the replies people, Edinburgh is a great place to live, been here 10 years now, Cafe Royale is my favourite bar. The roads around here are all good, and once you start heading North it gets brilliant. Getting here from the South is pretty good too. I just need to find some green lanes.

On the mods list at the mo:
Panniers & top box
Bash plate
Heated grips
Crash bars

I've been looking around and have my ideas but I'll stick a more specific question out there soon

Cheers, Chris
