Hello Everyone,
Originally from Bismarck ND, I now reside in Fargo ND. Been riding since the late 60's and got a chance to join my parents in Sturgis in 1971, and then did not miss Sturgis for about 6 years.
Just bought my 2012 Super Tenere in Oct. 2012. Blue and beautiful. Looking to outfit it with rear rack(s), skid plate, better windshield, crash bars, side bags, etc.. Ideas on all of your experiences with various farkles are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Leaning towards Wolfman luggage system, (Thoughts anyone). I will not be doing any enduro riding, but always wanted to go up the other side of Bear Tooth which is a gravel road (visible from the rest area). Now with a Tenere I can, I think. My other bike, a C10 Kawasaki Concours, was just not an option for the other road. I also want to get a picture of me and my Tenere in Prudhoe bay in 2014.
Seems like Givi crash bars are the least expensive, but I kind of like Alt-rider option. I spoke with Megan this week at Alt-rider. She spoke with engineer about pillion rack as a replacement for the passenger seat. According to Megan who phoned me back, her and the engineer went out in the shop, due to my inquiry about a pillion rack, being they had a customer's Tenere in right then. She said the engineer measured all of it and Alt-rider is pushing the Tenere pillion rack up the ladder. She believes it should be ready for sale in about 2 months. Mating this new item with their existing rear rack should be a nice setup.
I am only 5'7" and don't anticipate giving any rides on my Tenere, so I will replace this seat with a rack. The Alt-rider existing rear rack seems really nice with the lower cubby hole so to speak.
I look forward to all of everyone's help and ideas outfitting my Tenere.
