I've been sniffing around here for a little bit now...seems to be a "grown up" forum. Lots of good info. I might stick around for a while

I'm new to adventure bikes. My wife and I had two Harleys which I liked a lot.
After major medical problems, I didn't want my wife to ride solo anymore so I decided on a Goldwing for maximum comfort while riding two up. I really like this bike, but I wanted more.
We have a lot of year round riding opportunities in Arizona. I went to the Overland expo by our cabin near Mormon lake and had an idea. I was looking for a good used one with around 10k miles and found something better. I bought right before a planned 2 week cruise and an 8 day street ride so I haven't been on the S10 much yet. Can't wait to get on this thing and check out Monument Valley and similar rides. I rode my Harley and Goldwing up Moki Dugway but would like to do it with the Tenere also.

Hello Bob Dirt .... welcome to the world of the Tenere. Sounds like you've been around a bit and have had interesting bikes. Everything that you've done in the past needs to be revisited on the Tenere .... and so it begins. :)

What's this "grown up" nonsense .... I'm not ... not yet :))

I here ya there...when I turned 50 almost 6 years ago, I asked my wife if I had to act my age and she said noooo.
Been married to her for almost 36 years and she still lets me buy the toys I want...I even have two Yamaha Big Wheel 350's...she bought me my first one.
I ride a lot of dirt here (polaris 850XP), Utah, Nevada, Cali, and Mexico (rocky point). Can't wait to get going on this new bike. One of my riding buddies is also looking for a Tenere. He's the one that turned me away from BMW...

Welcome on, BD. Congrats on the bike. It's a pretty big boy, so doubt you'll have any trouble riding two up. I think you'll be pleasantly pleased ::003:: . Keep up posted, and ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Welcome from another 'Zonie! There's a few of us around here. If you're going to ride Moki Dugway, don't forget to hit Valley of the Gods road (the two a right next to each other). I did this on the way to the rally, and the bike can handle plenty of terrain that most people wouldn't believe, given its size!

thanks guys. the bike seems very light compared to my other pigs. won't be riding 2 up on this on...kept the wing for that. I have monument valley mapped out for one of my first over night rides. lots of cool places to see that are fairly close...planning an alaska adventure for early next summer
