Who od our tech wizards is able and willing to flash my 00 european ECU. And where are you located?

Really?
At the end of an entire thread by AVC8130 who has done many of them, in a thread that has everything you asked for?
::)

Tony/AVC8130 is in New Jersey USA, which can be reach by FedEx or any other carrier from pretty much anywhere in the world, including Slovenia. Expect to email back and forth with him, so he gives you the map you want, and turns the ECU around within a day or so of getting it. You also can't beat his price. PM him for details and to start emailing.

I have seen one other guy talking about flashing his -00, and from what i gathered he was doing it himself, thus the question. Was just checking if a closer option opened up (Like Europe or something) ;).

Hi Tony,

I just picked up a new 2013 model in time for winter and I thought I would get the flash-tune system and have some fun. I was wondering if you have ever tried the spark advance map supplied with the 91 octane file and if you noticed a difference? I was also wondering where the stock timing is supposedly restricted? I am planning on creating my own throttle maps along with decreasing the engine braking and decel fuel shutoff.

Thanks for your input,

Brett

Have you looked up "Off-The-Road,DE", they are probably more local and all your questions are answered on their site...........................

Brett,

I've played around with timing. I've run Flash Tune's suggestion. I'm not a fan of advancing the timing. I've been plenty of places I was lucky to find old 87 octane. I've had the bike ping on me fully loaded with stock timing and 87 octane.

Hi Tony,
I am on the fence about doing this mainly because I don't understand much of what you guys are talking about but thats ok.
I would like to tell you my complaint(s) about how the bike runs and see if you think flashing the ecu would cure my problem(s).

Mainly when I am offroading low rpms slow speed the engine will stall, does that cough thing kinda pops thru the air cleaner and stalls.
seems to always happen in a technical area.

It does also happen on the street in similar circumstances when taking off from a stop low rpms it will sometimes pop and stall.

Fuel mileage is not impressive.

Lack of power especially in T mode yes I know it is touring mode but really its sad.

Thats kinda it.

What other benefits would I expect if I got this done.
Turn around time.
Final cost.
thank you

Gator

Also, I am in Delaware would it be at all beneficial to do this on the bike?

For anyone who has the Flash-Tune interface, or anyone considering getting it, be aware that the latest version requires an internet connection to run.
I used to make changes to the maps in my house, then take my laptop to the garage, where I don't have an internet connection, to flash my bike. Now I can't do that anymore.
I asked Flash-Tune if there was a way around this, or if I could get an older version to re-install, but they said "Sorry, You have to be connected to the internet to flash."
I'm a little bummed 'cause now I need to add another network run to my garage.

Thanks for the heads up JB. I expect I will have the same problem.
I happen to have just tried to launch the program for the first time in months last night and it tried to connect to the FT mother ship, then gave an error and crashed. I expect I will have to down load a later version. I just hope I don't loose my maps.

I just had the ECU on my 'new' 2012 ST reflashed by AVC8130, and would like to comment on what a positive experience it's been. Posted the ECU off on a Friday and had it back on the bike the following Wednesday (just in time for our next ice storm). I chose T enhanced and SS enhanced. My impression after a couple of short rides (~60 miles total) is that the bike is now much smoother up through the gears in T enhanced mode and revs up a lot faster than before in S mode, and does so without any unsettling transitions. We'll see how I feel about it after many more miles, but I think I'm going to appreciate how the performance is improved. (I usually ride ~22-24K miles per year, mostly on paved byways). Anyway, thank you Anthony for doing a great service for the ST community (and at a fair price too).

ECU re-flash

I also had Anthony re-flash my ECU and am very happy with the result.

Other than mounting a GPS, it is the first mod I have done and one of the best in turns of return on investment. I have had many bikes, over the years, and have much experience with power commanders and jet kits. This is by far the most effective adjustment to motorcycle fueling of the bunch.

I went fairly conservative with my flash choices, choosing T-mode "light" and S-mode "enhanced". There is an obvious difference between them and a significant difference from the stock modes. Stock, I found myself running the engine up to 5k all the time, in an effort to "get up to speed". With the new flash, I find I can shift at 3.5k rpm and get the same result. Maybe even better as I like the throttle response and the 1:1 ramp up of the S-mode "enhanced".

The off idle flat spot, or what ever you want to call it, that occurred every time I let out the clutch is eliminated, which was the one thing I wanted the re-flash to address. That it did so makes the expense more than justified in my eyes.

With only @ 300 miles since the re-flash I really haven't taken an accurate look at fuel consumption but it does not seem to have affected it in a negative way.

I would HIGHLY recommend this modification to anyone who is not happy with the fueling, performance of a pre-2014 S-10.

I ran into the same thing, my software got updated, and now I can no longer do anything without Internet connection. I also do not have Internet connection in the shop. I called FT and complained bitterly, and got nowhere. I discovered huge threads on the Yamaha R1 and R6 forums about this issue, and a whole lot of pissed off users. I wished I had never updated the FT software. I wish I had an old version that would still work.

I just came back to read this thread and it occurred to me that maybe you were talking about me.

I did flash my -00 but I'm no tech wizard. I barely managed to flash my own. I was nervous enough to ask how much a new ECU would cost an the answer (2215eur/2600usd) did not help.

I'm just not confident enough to flash other ECUs, sorry.

Thanks for answering :). Just today AVC messaged me, that my ECU safely arrived to the states and has already been flashed ;D.

AC, reflashed my 2013 Canadian ECU, I had the T enhanced and SS sport and some engine braking removed. So impressed with the results. The low RPM stumble is gone, better idling, not so much clutching in the lower RPM.

Did about 900 miles this week in AZ mix of dirt and road. At first I was liking the new T enhanced and TC2 in the dirt, but once you get use to it SS with TC off is so much fun.
My wife rides a 2012, only difference is I have a Yosh slip on. Roll ons and switching bikes we were both so impressed with AC reflash.
It just does everything better and smoother, its how this bike should run.

ACs customer service and communication was so impressive. He helped me out of a bind flashing my ECU and shipping..flashed and shipped in one day, when the other ECU reflash company left me hanging. AC communication and speed of returning the ECU saved the AZ trip for me...thanks again.

Best mod I have done to date.

Still unanimous!........nobody has ever regretted flashing their ECU. :)

Wasn't there another thread that AC talked about the flashes he was doing as an option to Flash Tune. I've been searching for an hour and can't find it. Thanks
