So I received my new Alpinestars WP scouts last week and this morning decided to take the bike out and wear them. Problem, I can't move my ankles much at all and getting above or below the brake and the shifter is impossible. Now, I didn't have time to play around and adjust things I just stripped them off and headed out. What advise do you guys have that might help. Are they on to tight, do I have a particular buckle to tight. I am in new territory with this style of boot .

I have the same boots, they do break in after a couple of rides. You can also use some kind of leather conditioner to help soften them a little.

The do break in and you get used to how you get it under the shifter…I had to make a deliberate movement to move my foot and get it under the shifter. After awhile you forget about it…

Same deal here. Just got a new pair of Sidi Adventures. Shifting isn't too bad...but rear braking almost requires me to lift my whole leg.

I've been wearing them around the house, walking in the wet grass with them, flexing, doing weekend rides with them, and just trying to break them in.

Got new boots 3 months ago same exact problem. But after break in and getting used to the new thickness didn't have to adjust anything.

Question for y'all; in boot sizing, there's the Euro and US, but they never mention the width, M, W, etc. How does one find a boot that will fit a wide foot/high arch? Spend time at a retailer I guess?

The last bit. However, you may need custom orthotics if you have very high arches, width and arch support are 'average' sizes, some manufacturers offer wider fittings, some have wider heels, the cost would be huge and they would not see a return if they made all size and width variations. Just have to try them out, but I would say if you are an 'awkward' fit then expect to pay more, then again you may just have good luck and find something not too expensive (relative).... ::008::

Going to a shop is the only way unless you use someone like Altberg who will record your sizes and make bespoke boots to order. There does not seem to be a consistency with boot size, even in the range from the same supplier. The other problem I have with wide feet, is that most boots narrow at the ankle, and unless they have a long zip, I cannot get my wide feet past this narrowing, even if the sole & upper is the right size for me. I like Daytona boots but I can only get into the short style boots like the Rainbow. Even the longer Touring boots in wide fitting are too narrow at the ankle. I think my feet are UK size 12 in girth but only got to 8.5 in length...

You do get consistent variation between brands. Alpine stars and sidi, for example seem to run narrow. I'm a fan with long skinny feet. Same variation with gloves, pants and jackets. Spending a day at a retailer with many different brand selections should be fruitful.

You really do need to try the different models on for width, not just go by brands any more. For example, the Alpinestars Toucans are made in eastern Europe and they intentionally make them wider than some of their other lines in trying for American customers. I had a pair of old Alpinestars street boots which were always a bit narrow while the Toucans from the same company are comfy like house shoes.

I lengthened the shifter by a half inch, and had a folding tip put on. I would lengthen it even more next time.

You still have to break in the boots, though..............
