I got my non-ES 2014 almost 2 years ago with 1,800 miles on it and paid $9,200 then.

This one's a really good deal that ought to sell fast, but it's not unreasonably low. Pricing like that is just a seller who is motivated OR who doesn't want to dicker on the price.

I'm the guy selling the too good to be true no scam 60th Anniversary Tenere. Here's some numbers for you all to crunch:
Dealer Price ... $11999
OTD Price ... $14700
Heated Grips ... $372.84 ( installed by me thanks to some very useful posts on this forum )
My Asking Price ... $9990
It's a no dicker very generous price and the first guy to show up with $9990 is getting a great deal on a great bike.

I talked to you today. If the guy doesn't buy it tonight, I'll be there Friday with cash. Can't go tomorrow because of late afternoon Doctor appointment for leg cast removal...hopefully. Please call me and let me know

$9990 is a great price, no doubt about it. BUT, it's probably also a realistic price to move the bike, and not hold onto it for several months, lowering the price incrementally until it sells.

I think people see the asking prices for bikes, and assume that's what they're worth. I think the selling price is often 10-15% lower than the asking. So a bike that someone is asking $11,500 for might sell for $10,000, basically the asking price of the bike you're considering. I am going to guess that quite possibly, the seller you're dealing with won't drop the price much; he knows it's priced fairly, and priced to move.

I sold my 2013 Super Tenere with 10,000 miles, 3-piece OEM luggage set, and a Seat Concepts seat, but otherwise stock, for $6500. People said that I was crazy for "giving it away." Took one week to sell. Others similarly equipped at the time were asking $7500-8000 and would sit on the market for literally months, incrementally going lower until the ask was $6700-7000. All that means is they're not worth what the seller is asking, because I proved that there were buyers out there (I could have sold the bike 3x).
very valid points, thanks

Thanks to all for your advice and feedback. I feel confident that I'm getting a really fantastic bike from a classy gentleman. And Bob, sorry I beat you to the punch, but I've been waiting to get an S10 for over four years, so I'm glad that my wishes finally came true!

I didn't have my CL listings go that far into Cali. I only saw it because of you. I changed all my cities now. I'm still not really ready to buy, I can't twist a throttle or shift gears with two casts on my body, but if I come across a good deal, I'll jump on it. Have fun with that bike

Bob, take a look at San Diego. There is a 2014 ES at a dealer in Kearny Mesa for a similar price...

I actually looked at that bike a week or two ago, but the dealer and I couldn't come to agreement on price. Also, there are a few small dents on the right side of the tank. I asked about the dents but couldn't get any feedback.

Thanks, I saw that also. The yellow really turned me. I'd like to have another one. I'm going to be patient...I can't ride (or walk) yet

I didn't recall any, although, to be honest, I might have been more focused on the engine performance. ::025::

I believe it was bone stock. The only reason it was a killer deal was the color. Other than that I've bought 2 Gen 2 bikes in the past 2 weeks that were better deals than this one. And one of them was an ES. You just have to be ready to jump when the right one comes along.
