Hi. Has anyone modified Nanuk cases (950 (39.8 liter) and 960 (67.5 liter) ) to fit a tenere. Theses are equil to Pelican cases in durability and designe, except a lot cheaper in Canada , a Canadian product ( no duty or currency exchange). I am looking at adapting Hepco Becker racks for the 950's and make a fixed plate for the 960 top case. Question has anyone been successful with the Twisted Throttle mounting system for Pelican? I choose these as the 940 is too narrow to fit a XXL full face helmet as a top case as is the 950. Also has anyone found an LED rear light bar suitable as an extra brake / signal light in Canada?

Yes I did ::26::

But Caribou case system to fix Nanuk on SW motech racks is much better than Twisted Throttle IMO, and I used smaller cases. See below.

I have Pelican cases. The reason I'm posting is to share that I put my tool tubes (containing MSR bottles) on the front of my cases instead of the rear (like most people do).
My thoughts were to break up the air hitting the "brick" that is a Pelican case. I think it worked.
When I first picked up the cases, I went 300 'ish miles home and averaged around 43 mpg.
After putting them on I averaged 46 mpg.
Just a thought...

Thanks Caillou for the input. From what I have read the Hepco Becker racks are suppose to be stronger, have I been misled?
Note that the system recommended for the top case is sw motech / givi. The reason for the larger cases is to accommodate for a long
trip and my XXL full face helmet and XXX gear, parts, tools etc. Also the rear pillion will be removed to give extra space.
On mounting the Nanuk, where they wheeled and if so did you remove the nubs on the back ( which hold the wheels and Handel) or did you leave them on. I am considering leaving them on to attach heat shields to for the side cases. The Nanuk partitions are interesting I was just considering using stuff bags. I also like your rear rack, which one is it? Last I have been in touch with MI in Quebes as they are apparently the only distributor for Hepco Becker in Canada and so far very discouraged any recommendations?

Hi Salty,

Lot of questions... :)

See my answers in Capital

Thanks Caillou for the input. From what I have read the Hepco Becker racks are suppose to be stronger, have I been misled? THE SW MOTECH EVO IS AN EXCELLENT RACK AND IMO MORE VERSATILE THAN OTHERS (WILL ACCEPT MORE TYPE OF CASES). PLUS IT COMES WITH SPACERS TO USE THE RACK WITH AND WITHOUT PASSENGER HANDLES, AND CAN BE REMOVED IN SECONDS.

On mounting the Nanuk, where they wheeled and if so did you remove the nubs on the back ( which hold the wheels and Handel) or did you leave them on: MY SIDE CASES ARE THE 940 AND NOT WHEELED.

I am considering leaving them on to attach heat shields to for the side cases: THE SUPER TENERE DOES ALREADY HAVE A HEAT SHIELD AND I DO NOT THINK IT IS NECESSARY TO ADD ONE...

I also like your rear rack, which one is it? IT IS THE ALT RIDER. I BELIEVE IT IS THE BEST REAR RACK FOR THE S10. IT IS A BIT PRICEY BUT WELL DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED. I HAVE THE REAR RACK + PILION SYSTEM SO IT MAKES A HUGE PLATFORM WHICH FACILITATES LOADING.

Last I have been in touch with MI in Quebes as they are apparently the only distributor for Hepco Becker in Canada and so far very discouraged any recommendations? NO IDEA. ONLY HB PART ON MY BIKE IS THE SKID PLATE AND I BOUGHT IT FROM THE STATES.

Thanks again. I will look into SW racks as well, and order in the Altrider rear and pillion rack.
