Based on local sales tax, looks like around $880 and 'free shipping' for us in the front range area. Not a bad deal. I'll have to go over and have a look see.SisuTen said:Response to an old thread..............perhaps clarifying, perhaps not. Most likely irrelevant in any case.
The difference between OEM and factory, lies in the labeling. In other words, an OEM case (or anything OEM) indicates that the aftermarket or accessory item is manufactured by the "Original Equipment Manufacturer", but sold under a different name(aftermarket brand). Same item reboxed, just not bearing the factory 50% surcharge.
As to the actual subject, hard cases. My personal preference is Caribou cases. Roger at Caribou utilizes Pelican brand (airtight, watertight and have pressure release valves for airline travel) cases which I defy you to break, have a warranty from Roger as well as Pelican, can be replaced by standard Pelican cases which are available all over the internet, and are inexpensive. Roger has developed the mounting mechanism, which works flawlessly, and is reflected in the price of his kit. Included are Hepco & Becker mounts which are very unobtrusive when the cases are removed.
He also has a nice 34L top case that fits a full face helmet.
They aren't as pretty as some cases, but then the ST isn't a beauty contest winner either (and shouldn't be anyway)
The Super Tenere Caribou setup is finished and ready for purchase as we speak.

Yeah, short trip from Thornton to Boulder. Roger works out of his large shop at home. Call him to give a heads-up and he'll set up a time to meet. Good guy!bvail said:Based on local sales tax, looks like around $880 and 'free shipping' for us in the front range area. Not a bad deal. I'll have to go over and have a look see.
I talked to him a while back on the phone but would like to meet, even if I don't buy. I volunteered my S10 to him as a mule if I ever get it, but sounds like he doesn't need one now.SisuTen said:Yeah, short trip from Thornton to Boulder. Roger works out of his large shop at home. So....if my SO was a 'little person' I could just stuff them in the case and not worry about helmets, boots and all that other crap. Just drill a few air holes. Downside is getting kicked in the shin like that ???SisuTen said:These things are tough!! You can trust them with your life!

No, I sure don't. And it will also vary depending on what racks you use.Kevhunts said:Rod, do you recall the over-all width of your set up?
