My WR250R got stolen today! Replace it with another? Or a cafe racer?

Got off the MARC train in Brunswick, MD tonight and my motorcycle is freakin' gone! The helpful officer gave me a ride home after i made the police report so that was nice.

I have comprehensive insurance with the Gekko so they told me the policy covers theft. I left DC to get away from scum (had a bike stolen there too) but they have followed me into the country!

I LOVED my 2013 dual sport that got ripped off today but am thinking i may get a Cafe Racer (Yamaha C Bolt) to replace it to change things up a bit. Still have the Super Tenere for on/off road duty after all. Rode with some Cafe Racer guys a couple months ago and got hooked on the concept. But i could not justify buying ANOTHER bike, so now is my chance now that i am down one bike.

What is you vote? Get another WR250R or get the Cafe Racer?

First time doing this process. Does insurance cover a full replacement or only what it as worth at the time? Am i out money here?

Wow, that bites! I had a bike stolen from my apartment complex when I lived in Laurel, MD. I only had liability insurance on it. :(

When I totaled my truck (it wasn't my fault) GEICO paid me what the truck was worth at the time, or at least what they thought it was worth. I actually received more money than I thought I would. Hopefully that same thing will happen to you.

Anyway, about your dilemma; I would ask yourself how much single track riding do you plan on doing. If you aren't going to be doing much or any, I would say to go with a cafe racer.

Just my two centavos.

Sorry for your loss, that really sucks... Unfortunately insurance will only pay for what the bike is currently worth. Why I think gap insurance is a good idea on bikes..

I'd say go for the cafe racer to add to the diversity of your rides. Although if you really enjoy single tack off roading your WR will be missed.

Sorry to hear. As you know, there are some toothless low-lifes who live not far from that lot.

I've been traveling a lot so never sold my WR that was for sale. If you do want to stay with a WR Then I hope to be back in the U.S. on Sunday or Monday this time.

as long as you have the tenere, anything else is just jelly on your doughnut.... when are you gonna get out of that communist state were only criminals are allowed to have guns...( its almost that way)... not sure what I would want in a second bike , café type sounds interesting... at least you still have some choices ....while they last...

Sorry for your loss. Not sure the Bolt is considered a cafe racer though.

I'd get the new Triumph Street Twin and hit it with the bank of farkle credit card.

Had the WR250R myself. Gone now to another owner.

I have a Moto Guzzi V7 Racer.

Dude!!! Go get one. So much fun. Change the pipes, minor turn signal clean up, and aesthetic clean up and bam, it's awesome! Agostini pipes sound and look beautiful.

I'm holding out for the new KTM 800 Adventure bike for the next "small" bike.

Thanks for the advice guys. I ended up getting a 2015 Triumph Scrambler to replace it (I posted in the Other Bikes sub-forum). So far so good!
