Hello everyone, Upstate NY here. I'm about to pony up the deposit for a S10. Still up in the air on color. But the Raven is growing on me fast. I was one of the ones who wrote and called Yamaha to get this here so I guess I'm obligated to buy one.

My F800GS is getting mighty nervous.

Welcome to the Forum!!!! The Raven is a nice color (have it on my FJR), but I opted for the Impact Blue. Makes it easier to tell my two bikes apart.... ;)

Hi LostViking and welcome.

I’m originally from upstate…Syracuse specifically, but I left in ’81. Glad I’m not up there now! :)

Welcome! My wife is from Syracuse. We pass through there several times each year on our way to Vermont. The Adirondacks are a beautiful area to ride.

Bill, agree on the Adirondacks!!!! Have you been to any of the STOC events up that way over the years? It's been several years for me since I last made a FallSTOC or NeSTOC. Need to do it again soon!!!

Welcome! Your F800GS has valid reason to be nervous, no doubt. :)

Hello and welcome to the group. Also, thank you for your efforts to get Yamaha to see the light.

Rod,

I did the 1997 event in Vermont but have not gone since. No good reason why though.

Welcome LostViking! I'd like to get to New York, someday. I have friends that have told me how beautiful it is in the summer and fall, there. Your new Super 10 won't get bored! :)

Thanks everyone,

Not to sound stupid but what is an STOC event?
ST Owners Club. Started MANY years ago during the early days of the Honda ST1100. We have "events" different places around the US and in Canada.

Welcome Viking.
+1 on what Colorider said.

The ST owners forum is: http://www.st-owners.com/ A large forum with predominately ST's with events (gatherings, campouts, rides to eat, etc.) all over the country. Good people, IMHO.

There are several ST forums around. ST Owners is not the newest, but is the largest. STOC dates clear back when DoD was the thing on UseNet. One of the oldest is "The liST" which was nothing more than a re-mailer back then. Now it is a forum.

The largest event each year is WeSTOC, which is held someplace in the "western" US (or Canada). Last year it was held in Moscow ID and this year it will be held in Nelson BC (Canada).

Good people all around.

Theoretically, we could be an ST Owners Club. I was thinking it would be cool to call it something like Tenere Adventure Group (TAG) Something like that, but it really isn't up to me.
Oh, the STOC was and is a great group of people who meet in places, and go for lots of rides once they get to these locations. I rememeber during one of their WeSToc events in Bend, OR in 1999 we arrived at hotel, checked in, then next morning at 6ama small group of us went for a day trip. We got back at 9pm that night and 700 miles later and a sore ass!!! Nice freinds. This is how I have come to meet Colorrider as well as Buckeye56 from many years ago!!!
Sure does show how motorcycling is a small close knit family, where people we never meet in person truely care how we and our families are!!
