Here's some useful info in a handy Chart form.
This came along with the Tire I just ordered.
I'll also include a PDF version in case anyone wants to print it out.
It has some other useful size-conversion and safety information included with it.

Example: The rear tire I just got has a 69T rating, which means its capable of carrying 716 lbs, and max rated speed of 118mph

Correct me here?
So with the Dunlop TrialMax Mission with a 69T rating, assuming a wet weight of 250kg for the STen, and I weigh 90kg, I, on my own are already 16kg overweight for the tyre rating of 324kg?

That's just the rating for the rear tire..................you also have the front tire carrying a bunch of the load.

Front Trailmax Mission is rated 59T, so front can carry 536 lbs...........or 243kg

Both together, if distributed properly could carry max 1252 lbs, or 567kg

I am not questioning the info you posted, but my naïve assumption for the past 14years of owning my Gen1 STen that I utterly (read, never considered the load rating of any of the numerous different tyres brands) underestimated my tyre capabilities.
And I have loaded her, heavy.

Heck, a lot of the true knobby tires are only rated to M - 81 mph

Anything more than the speed rating is gambling on the extra design margin of the manufacturer.
Having worked with Goodyear on tire investigations, I learned that the extra margin beyond the rating varies a LOT with the different manufacturers. It can be anywhere from an extra 50% to 200%+ and even within one maker they will not use the same amount.

Plus, any extra is for a new tire, not one that has been in service, been repaired, and especially not if there is any ozone, UV, or sun cracking damage.

True, but my pillion, panniers and topbox are all behind me...right?

The front still carries a lot of that load, even loaded heavy in the back.
Put all your stuff on there and have a passenger sit on the bike....................now go ahead and try to pick up the front tire ;)

I’d like to see psi recommendations for the tire size and load like they do automobile tires from the manufacturer.
I agree but the tire manufacturers leave that to the m/c manufacturers.

Not really the same subject but tire manufacturers are right up there with drug makers in how proprietary they consider every aspect of their product to be. Trying to get ANY data, even numbers sold, requires a subpoena.

I pretty much rely on the sticker under under the seat of the Super Tenere for tire air pressure recommendations, slightly more or less has always seemed to work well for me.

For comparison.
The Dunlop Sportmax Tires that I have, ready to go on my FJ1200 are:

Front - 120/70ZR17 58W (max load 520lbs, max speed 168mph)
Rear - 180/55ZR17 73W (max load 805lbs, max speed 168mph)

Combined max load - 1325lbs

Fastest I've ever gone on that Bike was around 145mph...................on a long, straight stretch of road in Arizona.

The Kenda/Tusk combo of Tires I have to mount on the S10 are:

Front - 110/80B19 59Q (max load 536lbs, max speed 100mph)
Rear - 150/70B17 69T (max load 716lbs, max speed 118mph)

Combined max load - 1252lbs

Rarely do I exceed 100mph on this bike.................when I do it's only on dirt :p
