BTW - I've used T6 Rotella full synth in my sled too.

currently (*as of yesterday*) Mobil1 10/40 tho'
Hannabone... I've been using the same Rotella 5/40, but rode a mates S10 a while back and it was shifting more smoothly than mine. Lower milage. He had Mobil 1 in it, and I was wondering if that made the difference in shifting.

Do you feel any change?

Trevor

DC - I used the T6 from 600 miles to 2000.

I then switched over to Mobil1 10/40

I do pre-load my shifts (*old technique with all my BMW's back from 2000-2010)

I couldn't tell any difference between the T6 & the Mobil 1.

You might wanna perfect the "pre-shift" - my scoot has snicked into every gear every time since I got the animal.

Very nice snicky gear box. I musta got a good one.

I switched to Amsoil 10w/40 and put Royal Purple gear oil in the final drive and all I can say is WOW! this made a huge difference in how smooth my motorcycle operated. The only reason I used this combo was because that is what was available at the local small town NAPA while I was on the road. I think I will stick with the combo.

Well, I changed my engine oil and rear gear drive to Amsoil and went on a 350 mile ride Sunday. I noticed in the heat of the day (94F) in traffic my fan came on once and the shifting stayed the same when warm.
I tried the Amsoil because how well it did with my tractor 7-1/2 foot finish mower gear box. The standard gear oil would boil out when I worked it hard and stopped when I switched and was much cooler to the touch. It was the same with the Big XT. I stopped after the first 50 miles and checked the drive.
I could hold my hand on it for a good 3 seconds when before it was less than 1/2 that.
Shifting is a dream and the engine seems to be much more quiet to the ear with my modular helmet open.
