Ok, that's odd...
The XB35's fit in my bike no problem...
Will have to see if I can adjust... I don't NEED to adjust just curious now !

Haha! Yeah, the squadrons are overkill in most situations, but its sure fun burning away the darkness with them. What's cool about your current setup is you can run the PIAA 530's at full blast while in low beam to better fill in the deadspots. I have to dim the squadrons in low beam, or the flood portion of them will dazzle -a better word is 'blind'- on-coming traffic.

You're spot on about the Piaa 530LPs, they do a fantastic job of boosting the sharply cutoff low beam without annoying oncoming traffic. The Piaa 1100 leds don't add much on top of the Morimoto high beams so will move them to my 250 DP and put Squadrons in their place. A few of us are heading to Hokkaido from Sept. 22 for a week, looking forward to using them there.

Had an interesting experience yesterday. Was riding with my friend who has a '13 GSW with the LED headlight — one of the best stock headlights around. We're sitting at a traffic light in the daytime and I hit my Morimoto high beams and they lit up a reflective street sign way down the road. He does the same thing and it lights the sign up about half as bright. The look on his face was priceless. ::025::

I installed mine a couple weeks ago. Some gotchas :

I ended up bypassing the stock headlight wiring completely and using the Morimoto motorcycle relay kit off a switched power source (i.e. my EB PC-8) I had some very slight flickering at idle that this addressed, plus i really didn't feel like dicking with the already sketchy OEM harness that folks are burning connectors on.

The power and ground for the relay are long enough to trim as needed, so I trimmed accordingly for (+) off the battery and (-) off the seat locking mechanism bolt on the frame.

I also oriented the porcelain part of the XB35 bulbs at the 12 o'clock position. Good bad or indifferent, that's what ADVFirefighter and I decided on when I called him up (thanks, btw!)

Give 'er hell...love the integrated ballast & igniter and theretrofitsource.com is very good over the phone helping with any technical/customer service questions! One of those "feel good all around" mods.

I'm still amazed at the amount of light these Morimotos produce, they really work perfectly with the shutter headlights.

Here is some additional info that might help.

My XB35's measure 20mm in diameter at the alignment ring.

The OEMs and ThreeFives measure at about 16mm. That's quite a difference. The Retrofit Source wanted this info, so I sent it to them.

What ultimately was the resolution to the issue of the XB35 base diameter being too large? Did TRS, or Morimoto come through with an answer and a solution? Considering doing this, but would like to know the end result, Thanks!

Had the same problem of the XB35 H7 not fitting in the headlight opening on my install. Seems both the bulb base and the opening are the same 20mm size. I covered the glass with a soft cloth to protect it and with a few passes with a file on the side of the plastic bulb base. I got it down to just under 20mm so the bulb would bottom in the opening, and they fit fine. I did send these pics. on to TRS and was told they would pass the info. on to the manufacturer but no idea if this issue has been addressed yet.
Have been running them for a couple months now and pleased with the results.
