Mixing tires?

I have worn out the rear OEM Battlewing at 10,500 miles and the front looks like it'll last a lot more, so my question is how would the front Battlewing go with a rear Anakee III rear that only has 3,ooo miles on it? I've been impressed with Battlewing on the street which the only place I've had the new to me 2015ES. My 12 had several sets of different tires and my most favorite were the TKC70s. I liked the Anakee 3 rear but hated the front. Let me know pros vs cons before I head off on a few thousand miles.

Thanks,

Ken

I'm running a Pirelli scorpion on the front and a Tkc 70 on the back with no issues. I say run it.

You'll be fine, just do it. I mix and match all the time depending on what wears out.

In extreme cases or road racing, you don't want a stickier tire on the rear. It can push the front and cause bad things. This is rarely an issue on the street. I ran a worn Anakee 3 with a new Shinko 705, now running a half worn Heidenau K60 with that same Shinko that still has more tread than the K60. No big deal. I don't care for Shinko 705s, but we needed a tire when they damaged my wife's K60 while mounting it. Now I'm using it up on my bike just to get rid of it.

Ditto to what ericv said. Mixing and matching is fine as long as you arent pushing your tires to the limit on pavement.

If you canyon carve and knee drag however, then mixing tires (brand/model/stage of life) can absolutely cause you to crash. Usually its a lowside when leaned way over.
