I have been missing from the forum for the past 3 days. I learned that it is not always a good idea to try to move stuff without help...

Thursday morning I was attempting to carry a large (mirrored glass door) medicine cabinet up the stairs from my basement. I almost made it.... lost my balance near the top and came tumbling down. The stairs, cabinet, etc got the better of me.

The good news is that it happened now and not one week before taking delivery of the new SuperT!

The wrist break is quite severe, but I'm hoping that with proper therapy, I will have near full use of it again.

I wondered what happened and sent you a PM to check, Rod. No need to reply, especially since it msut be difficult for you to type. Heal well, do whatever therapy is called for and be ready to ride in May.

I recognize that fixator! What part of the wrist did you break? I did a complete break on my left radius about 9 years go, and with physical therapy, got about 85% function back (most people don't notice any difference). I was in the hardware for 8 weeks...

Hope you heal quick man!

Ack! Never like to see a break so bad you get the exoskeleton. Like others have said, follow the docs rules and do all the therapy including the "at home" assignments. It will make a big difference in speed and quality of recovery. Hope it's a quick (as possible under the circumstances) and complete.

Next time let the load you're carrying GO! It's replaceable (no matter what the wife says to the contrary)...follow the Dr. and the therapist instructions or some "johnny come lately" will get your new ride.

Rod, I wish you a speedy recovery. WIll you be requiring Physical Therapy? I hope you are well enough when the bike gets here. I remember Vic Norton always saying to me about his age, our minds may be sharp, but we just don't recover as quickly as we used to!!!
Best WIshes Rod!!!!

I don't remember all the details, but know he talked about the radius and that there was a lot of crushed bone and damage to the larger of the two bones in the forearm that attach to the wrist/hand. Therapy is supposed to start this week, long before I am rid of the external metal-work (which I guess goes into my bones).

My #1 concern is regaining full mostion/function.

Thanks everyone for all the well-wishes!

It's all been said. I hope you recover quickly. I won't nag but our medics force intensive physio to get us back in the field as soon as possible ... get a good practitioner and work hard to ensure that you don't get any restricted movement/articulation ... in the meantime milk it for everything you can ... play the sympathy card. Get your feet up and and let others wait upon you ;)
