I am thinking of trying out some other mirror options. I like the stock ones okay, but they could look a little better I think. Kostas, member in Greece has some that look pretty sporty on his. I am trying to get info from him on what they are.

Years ago, I was the first on the VSRI forum to put KTM Duke mirrors on my Strom and many people followed suit there. They looked and worked great. They could fit on the XT but I will need to get the adapters for Yamahas reversed left threads for the mount.
I may go this route, but wanted to see if anyone else had found a good option.

BTW - Here are Kostas mirrors that I was talking about. Notice how much wider they sit. Should give great field of vision.

I've put the KTM Duke mirrors on a couple different bikes and they're functional, compact, and good-looking. Not cheap though, I think you can easily spend $100+ for the two mirrors and the little tapered adapters between the mirrors and the perches. I'd be interested in what you come up with for the Yamaha reverse-thread problem. (It's only on one side, right?) You'd hate to stack two adapters on the reverse-thread side. If you had a good machinist, they could certainly make something, but again, the expense....

Aprilia mirrors are a common mod too, but when I was looking into these for my V-Strom a while back, they were even more expensive.

The S10 mirrors are keepers for me. The only bike I have owned where the mirrors are vibration free, clear, and useable.

I'm with Speedstar on the look of the stock mirrors. They look like bug antennas sticking out of the bike. Man, those KTM mirrors sure look good. One thing I don't understand about the reverse thread on the throttle side. Seems like it should be just the opposite as the wind pushing the mirror on that side forces the mirror in a counter clockwise rotation which would seem to eventually loosen the mirror?

Those are the KTM Duke mirrors. I had those first and then in 2008 they had a newer version that looks even better. Same mirrors on the super Duke and I think the 990 SMT now.

I will see if I can find a pic.

Excuse me, I meant to say the wind hitting the mirror on the throttle side forces it in a clockwise rotation which would seem to loosen it as it is reverse threaded (?)

I agree it does seem bassackwards. I had to purchase a new right side mirror when mine snaped off hitting my work bench. I think it set me back around $45.00 :'(
