I have just at 3k miles on my Anakee2s and I like them.

The tread is a bit more aggressive looking than the Tourance EXPs the bike came with and you can tell when you lean it over as they don't feel as sporty....

But.. at 3k miles they're just barely showing some wear. All of these miles are highway and no dirt other than maybe 1 mile to/from my parent's place.

I'm thinking they'll go 6-8k, hopefully more.

Joe, are you planning to come to the gathering in Whitehorse next year? It would be a good way to test those new tires! Of course, they won't be new by then.......

I've had mine fitted in Feb this year. (front & back)
I have already done 12000km (7500 miles) on them (80% tar) and the back one is good for another 1500km (930 miles)
I weigh in at 115kg (253lb) and occasionally do 2up with my wife.
Great tires

I have done about 3000Km from memory on the Anakee's, (DL1000)

2500 of that was fully loaded with gear two up, and 300km of that was on crappy dirt / dust Australian Outback roads and very few twisties.

They look slightly worn. The fronts are still going at 13,000Km

A video that may help.

IBR Tire Performance

Cheers

Not planning on it at the moment. My priority are the ST events as you can guess. I do want to do the Labrador Hwy with a friend on his GS next year but that's the only non-ST ride I'm considering.

However, planning isn't something all that concrete until I'm on the road so things can change.

Mellow, there is another member from the Seattle area that was talking about going to Labrador as well. I will have to get his forum name someplace and let you know. He has a blue Tenere and an easy guy to travel with.

I had them fitted to my Triumpg Tiger 955i and the rear did around 7500 miles and I'm a big big Man.

A very good tyre in my opinion but i found the Conti trail attack better on tarmac and wet roads and of course speed but the Anakees are far better off road.

A very good tyre.

I will try the Conti Trails next.

One thing about the Anakee2s is they are not as 'easy' on pavement. They are a bit more cumbersome meaning you need to add more input/adjustment when in a curve whereas the Tourance EXP was almost like a sport touring tire.

If you do more trails then the Anakee2 is probably a great tire due to it's wear... I'm going to be on pavement most of the time so maybe the Conti is the answer. I liked the performance of the Tourance EXP but not the wear at all so it's a balance to find what works best for you.

I've seen other reports like that, but it never worked for me. I ran Anakee II on both my DL1000 and my wife's DL650 for a combined 40,000+ miles. Never had a rear go more than 7,500 miles. I guess the roads we chose to ride are just rough on tires. I do tend to look for chewed up pavement and ride it pretty aggressively.

I like the Anakee II. I've installed a lot of them. Just like suspension upgrades, I can't tell much of a difference from one 80/20 tire tire to the other on pavement. Get them off pavement and into a little mud and there can be a huge difference.

I had the anakee 2's on my tiger, they do wear well but they do not inspire confidence in the twisties. Also I found them to be very slippery in the heat , ala when I moved to Florida. On the plus side when I was crossing the mountains from Oregon into Idaho last April during heavy snow they were great and probably saved my ass. ::26::

Mellow,
I think I would like the Conti Trail tires but I think the name "Conti Trail" is completely misleading. This is a sport touring tire made in sizes to fit the popular large dual sport bikes, it has no off-road qualities about it. For me that would not be a bad thing as most of my riding is on the pavement. So far the Battlewings are performing really well for me and they are priced right , a pair can be bought for $206.

Thanks, makes a lot of sense. I haven't tried the battlewings yet.

I can vouch for the Battlewings. They're not the best in soft or loose stuff off road, but are pretty versatile for the most part. I also appreciate how well they do on wet pavement as well as twisties.

I did find on the Anakee2's that if you use the recommended tire pressure in the Tenere manual, 33/36, they handle MUCH better. I had them at 42/42.

I'll run that a while to see if they wear faster but the handling is a lot better in the twisties.

Also, these things are incredible in the rain and very nice in grass/mud/dirt.

Probably will, just depends which bike has the best tires at the time.

Now, I just have to figure out who you are.. LOL ... Bob?
