On this board I notice the posters "home" or city and state is not displayed, on YST it is. I like knowing where the poster is from, assuming of course they have it in their profile.

Agreed. It helps when folks put their town in their signature line.
Since town or general location is already in the personal info that anybody can see by clicking on the name of somebody posting, I don't understand why it can't be under the avatar, like in most forums.
