Read about this on another motorcycle forum. The motorcycle community lost a true legend recently. Malcom Smith passed away at age 83. I had the pleasure of meeting him many years ago. Truly one of the greatest of all time. RIP Malcom you will be missed.

I saw that he had passed away. It is such a loss for the motorcycling community. He was definitely a true motorcyclist. Racer, sales, political advocate. and professor of motorcycling. I had the pleasure of seeing him ride at a toys for tots off road event years ago. He was taking people on the expert trail system. Let me tell you he showed a lot of people what an expert was. He could really ride but was so humble and nice and helped the riders having trouble then explained the techniques needed to complete an obstacle. A true legend. He will be missed.

Truly an ambassador for the sport. I ran a couple of his rides out of Glen Helen into the Berdoo mountains. As far as I know a sweet single track near crabflats is still sponsored by him. RIP Malcolm...

I saw that as well, sad day. I rode with him out at Copper Land, way back when the owners last name was Cooper...... He was a great guy, I still wear my MSR gear.
