Thanks for info. Time to order and the Mahle has been the filter of choice for the last 20k.
Try using the Smart Post option for shipping.. 3 filters shipped $20.18 RA..ucwinters said:I checked the price of 3 filters (with shipping) from Rock Auto - $21.18

Know that this is old thread but always looking to save a little change and thought that I'd pass it along.
Tires, Windshields, Seats, Luggage, Oil Filters! If I can find a better built oil filter for less money... I will buy and use it.WJBertrand said:Has anyone ever suffered a failed Fram filter and resultant damage? All I’ve ever seen are tear-open opinions. No data.

Actually, I have had 2 failed Fram filters. The first one was on my wife's Ford Taurus and the second was on one of my trucks. Both developed leaks where the filter was crimped together. Maybe a bad run of filters? These incidents happened over 10 years ago and they were not caused by over tightening. Now, it's nothing but OEM filters for me. I can think of lots of other ways to save $2. There was no damage to either engine, just a helluva mess under the hood and on my garage floor. No data available.WJBertrand said:Has anyone ever suffered a failed Fram filter and resultant damage? All I’ve ever seen are tear-open opinions. No data.

Yes I have!! Back in the 90's My company had a generator with a Fram oil filter that ruptured resulting in loss of oil and blown up engine. I only use them as a last resort.Has anyone ever suffered a failed Fram filter and resultant damage? All I’ve ever seen are tear-open opinions. No data.

Thanks, but I was asking about motorcycles and maybe cars. Was the failed filter indicated by Fram for use with that generator in their applications guide? I guess we're all tainted by our experiences. I've had two defective Purolator filters fail on me, so will no longer use them. Both had improperly cut threads that tightened up before sufficient pressure on the seal could be achieved. First one failed on my motorcycle as soon as I started the engine. Second one let go on my wife's minivan two corners away from home. Major oil spills in both cases. The way they felt when they tightened was the same as when the gasket seats, totally fooled me.Yes I have!! The Fram filters have a bad rep, not one i would use anymore, their guts just look like trouble waiting to happen..Thanks, but I was asking about motorcycles and maybe cars.
