Madstad vs WASP vs shipping/cost difference

I've read everything I can find here but am still looking for something definitive so, if you have either of these brackets, please weigh-in.
I'd like to have the Wasp bracket, the consensus here seems it's the better/more adjustable unit. What I'm struggling with is the cost
difference and shipping. The Madstad bracket is going to wind up being around $60 less after shipping. My question is: Do you
all think it's worth the difference? The only downside I've seen to the Madstad are the less-than-handy adjustment procedure. The
Wasp bracket seems to have that dialed-in... so, help me justify the additional coin or tell me it's not worth the diff... I know you have
an opinion.... ;)

I'll be using it, at least for now, with the stock shield if that makes any difference...

TIA!

I would definitely go for the Wasp kit................................. Der.. ::015::

Seriously though - They both do a job but just approach it from a different angle.
Get whatever blows your skirt up.

LOL... I thought you might weigh-in! Seriously, I've been following your threads here and on ADV a year before I bought the bike. I'm, shall we say, versed.. ;)
The shipping from down-under is just a tad frightful but I understand that's out of your control. Even if I don't wind up with your bracket, I'd just like to say thanks
for the development and testing! Your reports were influential in my decision to buy the bike!

would be nice to support Wasp...

But the shipping costs scared me off and so I settled for a Madstadt bracket. It works for me.... and I don't find the adjustment procedure to be unhandy.

I had both and the Wasp bracket is a nice piece of kit. The Madstad is a nice bracket also.
I sold my Wasp bracket when I thought I was selling my bike. Long story and very costly. ::025::

I like the Madstad bracket and if I were to buy another, it would be the same. Mainly because it is made in the States and does the job..

Thanks Merfman..
I have heard that many times and it does mean a lot to me. What I do start's off being for ME, but it generally ends up that someone else want's in on it which I get a kick out of 8)

Unfortunately post and shipping has become rediculously expensive globally, so you are right, there's not much any of us can do about it.

Look honestly, none of these product sales are going to pay for my early retirement and if they are not selling I simply wont make them anymore, so just do your homework and go with whatever floats your boat.

Stay upright, or at least fall down safely.

Hi Greg,
like the bracket a lot. I have tried all kinds of screens and the stock one works the best for me. Ithink with yr bracket it would be even better.
Now,the question... how much $ it will cost me?
I'am from Croatia.

Thanks.

Hi Duka.
I manufacture them, but dont retail them direct. The kits are sold through www.motorradgarage.com.au and can be found here: http://www.motorradgarage.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=106_247&products_id=1191

The export price is $AU150 and I guess shipping is between $45 and $60.

Best to get on the motorradgarage website and send the guys an email for pricing.

Greg.

The shipping for the Wasp one was too much from Oz, so I ordered the Madstad and I'm very pleased with how well it works even with the stock mini windshield. Although I ordered a larger screen, I don't feel I need it. I was able to raise and adjust the stock screen enough to eliminate buffeting.

Also that thick cross bar is great for mounting stuff on it, using common RAM U brackets. I have mounted a battery bug voltmeter and Zumo 650 on it. I will post pics soon.

p.s. adjustment on the Madstad is very easy, but also I find once I located my sweet spot, I'm done adjusting it.. time to just ride! I paid $125 for my Madstad with free shipping.

I've used Madstad brackets on sevevral bike and will continue to go to Madstad when I need better air management. Great product, excellant customer support, made in the USA, and Mark is a stand-up guy. The S10 sports his bracket and 20" screen, the screen is supplied by California Scientific..... top notch quality.

WASP vs Madstad ..... you decide, you can't go wrong with either. ::021::

Regards, Paul

I tried the Madstad, and didn't like it. I couldn't get enough angle back towards me to eliminate buffeting, with either the stock screen, or the CalSci shorty that I bought. I think if I had wanted to adjust everything high to create a pocket of clean air, I could, but that would reduce the airflow on me (which is very important in the summer here on the Surface of the Sun)...

Maybe a very short screen, just enough to protect the GPS would work the best in the summer. I'm thinking of buying a used screen and cutting it down for the summer.. It gets hot in Texas to.

if you go for the cheapest because it is that you may regret your buy. money does matter of course, but you should always go for what you really want rather than settle. save a little more money and get what you really want or save the sixty bucks and spend it on a dinner or whatever else.

Well - Better make up your mind one way or the other.
Looks like there is only 7 kits left at Motorradgarage and we probably wont be manufacturing another batch.

Greg.
Say it isnt so Greg! Not enough demand?
