so took Friday off , picked up the new trailer , loaded the zero turn and went to my moms. 1 hour and 15 minutes to cut a acre of pretty thick grass in spots . zero turn a great choice and did a great job. then at 7 last night huge rain storm swept through the area and dropped multiple inches of rain here and there and pretty much everywhere. so no dirt bike riding this morning . and I will be cutting her grass again latter this week it seems .
first time I've operated a zero turn , looked like a drunk driving , could not go straight to save my life ...... but after about 15 minutes even thing started to come together and it is pretty instinctive after a little seat time ..... wish the dirt bike was so.

For the most part I like my ZT mower. It sucks on hills though, and I have a couple of steep ones. Overall, it is much faster. But, yeah, there is a learning curve. I can now drive it one handed. . . . but, I'd better not sneeze.

Love my zero turn Kubota but yes steep hill or ditches can be problematic especially if the grass is wet.
Many folks have slid down a bank into a pond or river and quite a few people have been seriously injured or killed.
One of my brothers recently traded his 5 year old zero turn in for one with tracks to make it a little safer mowing around his pond.

So had a great day on the beta , probably my best day riding a dirt bike ever. Felt like I’ve made some progress. 5D5185BD-44FD-41A8-95F1-B8C68DB7E4FE.jpeg005A6DDB-2D73-4BD9-8949-504F1A293A85.jpeg234C5BB4-50E4-40C1-A854-26720A47B318.jpeg6C20AD37-D05B-452E-ADE2-F393E66989E3.jpeg0B2D2848-9C0F-42A4-8D3A-14A73D1F5AEB.jpeg45A83853-5C26-4F66-A668-805BE995F0B9.jpeg91612BFB-4FFB-4A11-A647-D7FE497D51D3.jpeg

so the honda 450x is a great bike and I am a fan . but not for the trail . the beta is a great bike and I am a huge fan . yesterday I started out a little slow ,following all my riding buddies around (they too fast for my old ass ) I started to feel really good on the Beta . we did the figure 8 course (nice to warm up on ) got down in "little creek " (which held some mud ) and did a little mud practice . I prefer mud to sand now . at least this mud seemed to offer some consistency to the traction you needed. and as the morning went my confidence was getting better (even turned up the power valve for a little stronger hit ) but tried to not get cocky (im still slow ) but for once I felt I was faster than I have ever been on the trails (felt I could out run me on the honda 450x ) . our single track is single track , In some places trees are 2 inches wider than your bars , better be accurate. we laugh because it seems the cows walk our trails and bomb them with giant cow pies (which are slick when fresh )after we leave . for once I think my feet know what they are supposed to be doing with out me thinking about it (maybe why I felt faster ) . we started riding at 9 am and rode till 330 with a lunch break and other than drink stops pretty much stayed at it . I some times take the lead in our follow the leader ride , and I surprise them in some of the difficult places I lead them . came across a shallow wide and very muddy creek they waited to see what would happen to me before they attempted to follow me . nice to surprise them .
the beta 300 rr race is so easy , the recluse clutch system makes it even better . I have a bum right knee that im thinking might need a dr. attention soon , the beta allows me to to not have to stand which brings the bad knee into play . it is such an old man bike . but it will rip when needed .
so we added another section of trail to our existing trails , and on trying it out on a hard right turn my front wheel rolled over a stick which sent it side ways and then caught traction that caught me by surprise and started a whiskey throttle into the brush . managed to get off the whiskey and stop the disaster before I ate it.
it was time to call it a day. slept like a baby last night.

We can’t even get a drop of rain. Record heat for early June.
It was blazing here too!! Even in the mountains. Record dry weather, high fire danger and no campfires in the forests.

I just noticed a big trend in campsites in the mountains. Namely Big Bear. Unless you are dispersed camping, all the paid and "yellow post" free sites are not near trees or shade. I was looking for a place to camp in the shade the other day and unable to find anything. Even with the no campfire order people are not paying attention and having fires anyway.

I keep a campfire permit so I can use my JetBoil. I have not had campfires in the mountains for years. The danger is just too high. The forest is still recovering from the last burn. Next time I will just disperse camp. The problem with that is starting a fire with the catalytic converter going over dry brush.

1st campsite no table or shade. It was close to 90 degrees here at around 8,000'.

I had to work my truck hard to get to this site and this was not much better.

It was relaxing to crawl inside and get in the shade though

Motorcycle rider came into a corner too hot and left a tree ornament

Yeah, I don't know if it has anything to do with global warming, but the weather patterns this year are nuts. We've been cool, and wet. . . . everybody else, not so much.
