so had planned to ride the new to me beta today , but my buddy has to work . I could probably go to the track but it would be solo , so no fun there . also track cost 40 bucks to play all day and I'm a cheap fellow. so have a few projects here this morning I will have to attend to .
going to be dry and a warm 80 here today , have a few things to do to the Tenere that I have been putting off . and I can do some tinkering on the beta (clean and lube the chain etc.) .
to really enjoy the Beta im going to have to start going to the track on those days my friend is busy . wasted days of opportunity.

Hey there Terry while you are lubing your chain check the tension. It should have right about 42-46mm. I remember that the Beta spec is too tight and it will cause countershaft seal to leak and put accelerated wear on the shaft splines. Also check the inside of frame next to chain. If you have the Regina chain it is really wide and can rub the frame.

if you lived down the street I would be set ...... my neighbor Richard is a very experienced dirt bike guy , he gave it the once over . all is good .
what I need is a owners manual ,it did not come with one . the chain has 22 hours on it it looks to be in good condition , but I have been looking at replacement chain and sprockets some time later in the year if wear becomes obvious .
as I do not have the greatest amount of knowledge or recent experience your knowledge would be handy . there is a house for sale down the street .

I've been off work all week attending to my mother (turns 85 on feb 14 ) . so took an extra day to go play .... heading to the ranch to ride the Beta with carrot , who is planning to enter a TORCS race later this month . so a fun day that will be a little cool ,about 55 and maybe some rain . but hopefully not a rain out. will post some pictures later.
so Saturday I have some plans with the Tenere , and Sunday afternoon super bowl . and for the very first time I'm pulling for the GOAT Tom Brady . he is no longer a patriot so I can support his quest for perfection ( 7 is the number of perfection ) . 10th trip to the Super Bowl , 6 rings . all that talent with experience , Mahomes has youth and talent , bravado in excess , but can he remain calm . should be a fun Super Bowl to watch.

tubeless tire system allowed me to run 12 in the front and 10 in the back and for the soil conditions which after the rain seemed to offer really good traction . still learning how to use it to its best .
riding the Tenere today , the most neglected toy I have lately . mostly a work and weather issue , but now it competes with the Beta on the weekends . about mid week the weather is going to get cold and wet I hear so I will not be riding the Tenere much this week.

the high for Saturday is 41 Sunday 41 and wait for it Monday 30 with a low of 12 ...... now I can hear you northern states guys laughing , but we aint ready for this . our average is more like 60 /40 than 30/12 . we will not be out of the 40s till next Wednesday and will we have a freeze to a hard freeze each night starting tomorrow night for 7 days in a row. we actually get to experience some winter . and we may get our 2nd snow fall with accumulation on Monday.
laugh at our struggles and you will get invited to a July August central Texas road trip , and you have to wear your gear.

Rode my bicycle 7 miles to work in -15F air temps. (No wind.) It was very nice out. Riding home last night, it was 5F in town when i left, but when I arrived home, the temp was -8F. I was a bit underdressed (dressed for 5F), but the only thing that was cold was my left thumb.

My daughter and I rode dirt bikes in Moab this past december. it was 25F. Dressed for it, used hand warmers in our gloves and rode 4 hours. Much fun.

It's about attitude and having the right gear. Having the right gear helps with the attitude.

I can deal with higher temps much better than low temps. Guessing it's all due to what we're used to.

I prefer warm over cold that's for sure. I've ridden my bike in the high 20's and lots of times in the 30's , but not where there saying it will be Tuesday night around 5 .
