Apologies if this has been done. I didn't see a thread on this here but it has been popular on other forums. People often create simple tweaks or mods that work well and I for one would love to hear about them.

For example: I'll likely buy a taller/wider touring windshield next season as the stock one was just a bit to low. The wing was just catching the top of my helmet. In the meantime I have inserted a thick rubber washer between the mounting hardware and windshield on the top two screws only. This has increased the angle just enough to deflect the wind completely over my head and essentially cost me nothing but 5 minutes of my time.

Care to share yours?

I've "KLRd" a few thing on the tenere:

- Homemade Worldcrosser grip-strips on the tank, hand-cut from the non-skid stuff you put on aluminum ladder steps - $8.00 and a bit of time...

- Sawed down my exhaust cover with a Dremel and refinished with Krylon Satin Black paint - $5.00 and a bit of time...

- Used Rust-Oleum spray can truck bedliner to refinish the silver heel guards on both sides as well as the rear pegs and brackets - $9.00 and a bit of time...

- Krylon Fusion Satin Black paint on the rear under-seat pan and passenger grab-handles - $5.00 and a bit of time...

- Grip Puppies on the handlebars to kill vibrations - $9.00 and about five minutes of time...

- High-temp grill paint on the small exhaust guard on the right side of the bike - $5.00 and about 10 minutes of time...

Yes, all those are way better than my rubber washers. Grip strips look great and so does the exhaust. This is exactly the kind of stuff I was thinking of.
