Just finished a 300 mile ride which puts me at 575 miles on the 2013 .just wondering if anybody has experienced low Idle and stall out when coming to a stop ? Bike also seems to surge while riding slow in 2nd gear, also climbed a friends steep driveway and throttled a little excessive and something seemed to chatter real loud from the rear brake or drive? I think I have found the bike I've always wanted just need to work a few bugs out. :-\

IMO, give it more time and miles. It's just getting started on the break in. I broke mine in on a ride to Pittsburg and back and I could tell a big difference as the miles went on.

Tons of info on your question. But the short version is pretty much a repeat of what my fellow inmate just said.

Mine stalled a couple of times before my 600 mile service.

My throttle bodies were synced at that service and the bike felt both a bit smoother, AND it didn't stall but once more. (And that stall was accompanied by me blipping the throttle just a tad at the stop. I stopped doing that)

Then, I started piling the miles on. Took off across the country on about a 3000 mile trip. The bike just kept coming alive more and more. By about 6000 miles she was nice and broken in. I was happy. Didn't think it needed anything addressed except the off idle stumble.

Got my ECU flashed at AF1 racing.

Perfection.

Bike run so much better. Night and day from what you are experiencing right now.
32,000 miles.

Enjoy!

The chatter up the steep hill sounds like the traction control kicking in. In TC 1 it will do it more than TC 2. Especially in gravel or dirt. These big twin engines do take a while to a while to run in. Mine has 7000 miles and is still getting smoother with each ride. Just keep the maintenence schedule and ::021::

Thanks guys for the reassurance .Just a little nervous Nellie . Found the thread above after I calmed down and it pretty much explained it. Love this bike just what the doctor ordered. This forum is going to give me a lot of comfort over the next couple of weeks and years of good reading. ::021::

Since your bike is new and there is NO BETTER source of info than this forum, you might like to know a tip that will help you find ANYTHING you might need to know. (I highly doubt there will be a subject that hasn't been thoroughly discussed)

Using Google, enter a search of any keyword or phrase with "site:www.yamahasupertenere.com" on the end.

Examples

Engine stall site:www.yamahasupertener.com
Loose spokes site:www.yamahasupertenere.com
Headlight harness site:www.yamahasupertenere.com
Hard start site:www.yamahasupertenere.com

Those four will address about every malady that the S10 has had by 99% of us.
Notice that none of them are serious in nature. Although since your bike is brand new, the loose spoke subject is applicable NOW. :)

Summary on spokes........
The ones that do come loose, come loose early on as they "bed in"
After which, you will still check them, but not find a loose one.

And finally, regarding the upside down pic, just use a different technique for posting pics on the forum. Using a hosting service for your image files works best.

Here is a write up on how to do it easily enough:

Cheers

The bike most likely stalled from a lean condition. I'd put a few thousand miles on it before making a bunch of mods. Just remember once you add more fuel, you need to open the exhaust, and once you open the exhaust you'll need more air! It's a package deal if you want it to run right. Mines all stock with an +5 change to the CO and it runs fine, but everyone's different!! Enjoy the bike.

Thanks everyone for all the info. From what your telling me the bike is like a pair of new boots the longer you wear them the more comfortable they are ! I plan on riding this weekend for about 600 miles and that should smooth things out a little more.no more stall outs after about the 400 mile mark so things are already looking up. Just sold my 98 HD ultra so the vibration issue is not a problem for me. ::021::
