We've got a company familiar with the Tenere for side cars. I foresee difficulties trike-ing a shaft drive bike. The side car is essentially a bolt on kit, the trike is engineering and fabricating an entirely new back half of the bike. R&D would be a killer. You'd be money ahead tracking down a Wing or an HD that's already triked. The engineering has long been in place there. And there's always the CanAm, which I think looks pretty sexy. ::26::

While I cannot help with a trike builder (google custom bikes or trike builders in you area, the US is awash with customizers), but nearly all trikes in Europe are shaft based trikes, they use an auto diff and shorten it or custom make one. So, very do-able. Sorry to disagree with Don. Have a look at this one on Ebay UK...

Also this co. in the US makes reverse trikes.............

Oh, I've seen them, one of the Ford rear ends was pretty popular once. Weighs a figurative Ton tho. The Wing being a shafty, I've never seen the underpinnings for that kit, shortened automotive or fabricated? The creation of something new though. Some of the new independent rear suspensions are really light and compact. Even with unlimited funds, I'd still go with a hack I think. It's all about Style, don'tcha know.
Although, a shop doing a lot of shafties, they'd be half way there with the R&D...

Trade it for a GoldWing trike, proven base and can be found on the used market for little money.

Good Luck

I've ridden 5k miles since hacking my S10 last winter, definately the way to go. Getting mid 30s mpg, will cruise at 80 mph, and cost about $1k for the subframe from Freedom Sidecars in PA.

Another possible option for trike conversion is to have a talk with Lehman Trikes. http://www.lehmantrikes.com/ They started with just Harley and Honda GLs, but have branched out to several other bikes. They might get interested in an ADV trike conversion and the possibilities that brings to their market share. OTOH, if you're sticking to pavement, it's likely a lot easier to change platforms to something that is already a trike.

In the US, trike builders have focused mainly on Wings and HDs. There are some interesting tilting options for belt drive bikes too, but I'm not thinking that is a direction you want to go. Trike or Side Car conversion are not cheap. GearheadGrrl can share stories about that. (somebody changed user names?)
