Guys, I need to pick your brains. I'm 5'11", with a 30 inch inseam. I've had my S 10 for 3 1/2 years and have it set up exactly as I want it. LOTS of farkles and a great ride. Problem is I'm 66 years old and just had a total hip replacement. I could always touch the balls of my feet down and was comfortable doing so, however with the weaker leg now I'm not as secure as I'd like. Anyway, I'm looking into lowering the bike. II know RideonADV makes a set of dogbones with a 1 inch drop, just not sure that will be enough. Also aware of Soupy's "adjustable" links. I think I'll need a modified kickstand and centerstand (and I do want a functional centerstand). Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My other option would be to trade bikes. I really like the new Bonnieville T120 and I can flat foot it. I've ridded the ADV type bikes for the last 8 years or so. Like the upright seating and cornering capabilities. I'll not be riding on any technical trails. Maybe some fireroads, etc but mostly paved or gravel roads. THANKS!

I am 5'11" with a 29" inseam. I lowered my Super Ten for my wife to try some time back. 1" lowering links and raised the forks 13mm in the trees to maintain the geometry. The bike rode fine, but you noticed the lowering. Tagged the skid plate a few times on normal corners with uneven pavement. Granted I weigh 250# instead of the wife's 150, but the I had the suspension set up for my weight when I was riding it with the lowering set up. The lowering doesn't change that it's still got a lot of weight up high.

There are several standards out there in the current market, (FZ-09, Honda's retro CB). The Triumph may have the lowest seat height, I haven't sat on any of the current offerings, but I would suggest you move to the bike that's already a comfortable seat height and a standard configuration rather than try to make the Super Tenere into something more comfortable for your current needs. Trying to make a bike into something it's not is usually not as effective as just getting something that's already designed the way you want.

I did the same thing Eric V did and have been very pleased with my bike. I weigh 160 and my gf is 140. The suspension is kind of mooshy and she likes to wheelie. A lot. I don't mind it though. Also you can modify your seat shaving some off around where the tank is. The trick on the seat is to narrow it a bit. You don't need to shave it off the butt area.

Exactly the same for me...1" lowering links from RideOn and 13mm in the fork clamps. I'm happy with the set-up.

Old Bear...I'm 5-10" 30 inseam and 61 years old. I have owned a lot of bikes 28 to date. I've had my 2014 S10 for 26,000 miles. Mine was ok for me but I still needed just a bit more footing. I put the seat concepts low on and removed the hi low bracket that is under the seat. This is one of the only seats that I know of that sits on the frame...It's cut very well for my legs and wide for seating when moving. Mine however is the ES and that sits about an inch lower than the standard S10. It really was just the thing that made it right for me. If I might suggest spending a bit more to dial yours in will most likely be cheaper than money to re farkel a new bike. You are so close to having it right I think. Maybe just the main rear spring down one size and this seat would do it...the seat was not real expensive maybe around $290 or so. If you only need an inch you might give it a try. I'm in Minnesota if you want to sit on mine. Mine never hits over the curb or in the corners. I'm about 190Lbs. Good luck ride safe. The guys here will help.

My wife at 5'6" has ridden both the first and second generation Teneres with 1" lowering links (1.2" on gen 2) and the lower OEM seat. It makes all the difference in the world to her. She's ridden about 30K miles between the two bikes with that setup. Loves her bike and refuses to consider any smaller bikes despite my prompting.

If you have a gen 1 bike I still have the Rideon-ADV 1" links and the OEM lower seat. I've been meaning to get them posted for sale out here, but haven't gotten around to it. If you're interested send me a PM.
