Well as it says I am looking for a coat in the 3xl tall size range. My old first gear 2xlt is getting a bit snug so need a little bigger and none of the makers seem to make a 3xlt. I figured with the size of our bikes there had to be at least a few other giants on here. I have looked at the newer first gears:

1. 2xlt killaminjaro- a bit on the small side with anything to keep warm on.
2. 4xl killaminjaro- fits great but much shorter then the tall and I need the length
3. 3lt tourmaster transition 3- feels like a xlt not a 3xlt
4. Haven't found a kathmandu to try on so... but doubtful.
5. Tried a klim and sleeves were a bit short and for that kind of money I would like it to actually fit.
6. tried a olympic of some sort in 4 xl not really long enough.

I am 6'5" 350lbs and all upper body height. Any suggestions are welcome I am about out of options on the local side and don't really want to order and return 10 jackets to try on other items.

Thanks,
James

Hey and hope you find something as I know you will.
I am 6'4 and 220 lbs but with long arms. I went to the Aerostich website and ended up buying a one piece suit from them. (Ida was my sales person up there)
I would think they could help you. I almost got a two piece.
What I really like was they sent me a suit off the rack (what they had that was close to my size) so I could try it at home and make any adjustments I needed which I did. They give you plenty of time to do this because you have already paid for it. Then I sent it back in the pre-paid box and they did the custom work on it and I had it back in a week. I can't remember exactly but the whole process was done in two weeks or less. I also think I just paid shipping only once for the back and forth. They really seem to be able to do major custom work to get you sized just perfect. Also you can do add-ons like patches (send them your own) or pockets.

Check them out. They had nice color selections. They are more expensive than most but I had great service and a really nice suit-!! I had warranty work on one leg zipper recently because I broke it and they changed it and the main zipper as well as did a wash and water repellent treatment. No charge, I did have to ship it up to them yet they shipped it back on them. Mine weighs 10 pounds FWIW.
YMMV of course.
Best,
-DT

Where are you located? I usually wait for the Chicago Motorcycle Show in Feb. to try on gear. Can't beat the prices or the selection. If you're in the US maybe there's a show near you?

Thanks for the areostitch info. I had been meaning to call them to see if they make anything bigger then what is listed on their web site and they don't... They however can adjust the sleeve length which is pretty cool up to 2 inches but they don't add anything to the body of the jacket so not sure if that will help me or not.

Thats's to bad. Maybe it was my one piece that had girth/gut adjustments and not the jackets. Bummer.

::008::6'2" @275# and the transition 2 3xlt is good. I know they make a 4xl but you might have the same issue with short back/sleeves.
Rocket Ballistic 8 comes in a 5xl and their site has the measurements for reference.

Both Olympia and Tourmaster have great "Big Guy" gear... I think I've got an idea. I'm nearly as big as you! :D

Over the years I tried a lot of "First Gear" stuff and was always left disappointed. Got a Tourmaster 3/4 jacket in 4XL and have loved it now for years. Last year I needed some lighter weight mesh gear, and on the recommendation of another *BIG* friend I tried an Olympia jacket, and it has been the best I've ever owned.

Prices are nice and reasonable, too.

Just FYI...

There's also these guys for custom work:

http://www.motoport.com/

I can't speak for their sizing (I'm not small, but then again, I'm closer to average...), but every review and post I have seen on them is a positive rave. They are also a bit closer (though shipping negates most of that point), being down in San Diego county.

I also haven't personally seen their work, but would most likely purchase from them based on what I have read, along with being close enough for me to ride over for a fitting.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I am looking at the motosport. They seem like the best option but damn their stuff is ugly. Waiting to run up north to see a Olypia AST2 in 4xl but not optimistic. I really wanted to be able to get that TPG. I went and tried it on and it would work great except the cut of the arms/shoulders is real tight and binds up on me. The company sent me measurements for it and it probably won't work. On the aerostitch the can add girth and sleeve length but don't make custom chest sizes and unless I totally misunderstood what the guy told they don't add length in the body. I am going to email them for confirmation on this. Has anyone owned a motoport? Many of the coats are made of kevlar, if you read the info on the site it really makes you wonder if they are full of it or if all the other mfgs are.

There are threads galore, and literally hundreds of pages, over on ADVrider about "MotoPort" gear... Not all of it complimentary or favorable. I came very, very close to having them make me up some gear, but to be quite honest, in speaking with the owner, both via e-mail and on the phone, I got scared off. Maybe it was just me, but there was this *attitude* that everyone else on Earth was doing it "wrong" and MotoPort was the only one doing it "right". Not just confident or a healthy cockiness, but literally downright arrogant and pretentious. And if you mentioned other good brands of riding gear, or even leather, the replies were downright condescending. Put me off...

I also found, by my own research, that some of the claims the company and owner make about being certified by certain race sanctioning bodies were entirely false.

But don't take my word for it... Read those threads. Just do a search over on ADVrider for "MotoPort" in thread titles only, and you'll find plenty to keep you busy.

Understand, they may very well make the very best riding gear in all the world, but I just decided I didn't want to deal with 'em, especially for that kind of money... OMMV.

I have the same problem. I'm 6'4" tall and 245 lbs. I just did a quick google search for Big and Tall Motorcycle apparel and so far this is what I've come up with. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/dept.aspx?departmentname=mens-big-and-tall-motorcycle-riding-gear

Nice thread. I am 6'5" and 350. I have a joe rocket mesh jacket in 5x that is actually big on me. The down side, it has honda goldwing branding all over it. But hey, it fits and it works.
I also have an old Gerbing Ultimate jacket, back in the day they custom built them, not sure if they still do or not?

Still looking for a good pair of pants in 50-52 inch waist.

Oh and size....18 riding boots.

so we are in the same boat.

My Motoport experience has been great in every way. I had a high side on my FZ1 because I chose to ride beyond my skill level ??? and was pretty much launched like a human cannonball in a nice arc onto the asphalt. Landed on my right elbow/arm/side and albeit a bit dazed & confused, the protective gear worked as advertised, no injuries other than to my esteem, my helmet & the pants. The pants has a snag resulting from the mishap and Motoport repaired it for free minus shipping costs. I've used their gear riding in the heat & humidity of central Florida in June, up through Appalachia, New England, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador (first ferry past the icebergs into Goose Bay that season) all on the same trip: from mid 90's to low 30's & was pretty much comfy the whole way.

It is not pretty stuff, but it does work well IMHO and they can make it in whatever size an adventurer requires.

James, I feel your pain. I am a hard to fit "tall" size (6'3", 185lbs, all upper body height). For me, none of the American sized items (Tourmaster, Olympia, first gear) fit --the talls aren't tall enough. EDIT: just stumbled across a review of the FirstGear Jaunt T2 jacket --comes in talls and runs very large. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/jackets_and_vests/textile_jackets/first_gear/jaunt_t2_jacket_2013.html

Aerostich is has excellent customer service and do what they can to get you fitted.
I have a Transit Jacket (42L) that is the best fitting non-custom jacket I have found --finally a jacket that is long enough! ::012::. No alterations available though...and the transit is a slimmer fit so it may not work well for you.

Their Darien jacket has a much more "generous" cut than the roadcrafters do --you might be able to get away with a little extra...ahem girth...than indicated on their sizing chart (and not be able to layer quite as much).

Depending on how picky you are about having the gear fit right (I am really picky about the armor being in the right place after an ugly slide down an on-ramp :-[)...you might need to go custom.

I have been on the fence a couple of times about buying some motoport gear (used to work right down the street from them and visited them in their shop)...and backed away because of similar thoughts to what Dallara mentioned (the hyperbole on their website, the holier than thou attitude, etc.). But I do believe motoport uses the toughest textile fabric available.

Teiz also does custom sizing...this outfit looks quite adventure-tastic (or at least a lot like some BMW Rallye gear)
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r3/teiz-navigator/

Johnson Leathers might be an option (they use the excellent forcefield armor) if you aren't opposed to leather.

Eric
