Just a heads up about the lock installation on Yamaha cases. Did mine today and all went well on the side cases, but when I got to the top case I ran into a problem. The back plate would not seat right. I could see that they lugs were not in the proper location on the latch. I ended up having to take the latch cover off to remedy this. Fixing the problem was not big deal at all but getting it back together was a major challenge. Just a word of warning, if you have to do this, springs will go everywhere and it take a bit of time to figure out where it all goes back. Removing the lip and lid frame makes getting it back together much easier.

The instructions for the top case do not match reality. The plate neeeds to be rotated 90 degrees from what is shown and you can feel it drop into the proper position. I spent hours trying to figure it out when it should have taken 15 minutes for the entire install. There are a couple threads on here that explain my problem and the same problem that others have had. Searches didn't help me but someone was able to link to one of the threads and got me headed down the right path. Glad you got yours figured out.

+1. The position the instructions show the lock should be in for install is incorrect. I had to do the same thing. Rotate the plate it inserts flush with the receiving hole in the mechanizm, then line up the lock with that.
