hello chaps I've just bought a genuine light gaurd of ebay described as "as new, excellent condition" but when it arrives there are no mounting posts so is useless guy says he bought the bike new and did not know the other bits where part of it !.
So my question is can you get the posts only from yamaha ? I did not think you would be able to as the scroats stealing them of the front of bikes would render them useless.
the guy has a set of box's on ebay as well so think he did actually have a bike.

Thanks Guys

I think peter_kay lost the posts/spacers..........
Taken off another ad:

"Specifications: - Material: 3 mm polycarbonate with anodized aluminium stays - Certified conformity (CE/TÜV/WVTA): For off-road use only ! - Mounting hardware: Not required. Mounting instructions included in the package"

You can pick up some hard ABS plastic spacers from hardware stores.
That won't let the screen just plug and unplug like OEM.

Dave, have you tried the various parts fiche sites? Those lens covers had not been DOT approved in the States last time I looked, you may need to find a Canadian or UK site to find the bits. Here's two; partsfish.com and procaliber.com , I believe they're both US though.

In the end, if he sent you a product not exactly as described, you can dispute it with Paypal which is very, very much on the side of the buyer.

Could always post here on the "For Sale" thread and I'm sure you might get close to if not all your money back. Then look for different ones from another vendor. I would find some bushings / spacers at a hardware store or online and just go forward. Just not sure how tech savvy you are though. Either way, maybe not worth the fight from the seller unless they were way out of line on price

Another option if you can find someone on here with the same guard on, have them measure O.D. X I.D. X Length and maybe some pictures and size of hardware..... Maybe someone out there can help on here????

Or............get some 3M velcro tabs on the outer edge, I've seen them mounted like that before. As long as the protector fits flush with the light lens should work

Just put in a Paypal claim and get your money back. Chances are you'll get to keep the part anyway unless he pays for you to return it to him.

Open a dispute on ebay/paypal stating your case. You will get your money back, he will have to arrange to collect his item.

Whilst I agree that the item in question is 'not fit for purpose', opening a dispute with paypal may not be the way to go. Take the high road, contact the seller and say that you have that option however would like to resolve it in someway, either he refunds some of the money paid or supplies you with the part required, I also feel there are other solutions, perhaps from my earlier post, regarding 3M velcro tabs. Just me, sometimes paying it forward has it's own rewards.

Agreed give the guy a chance to make it right somehow...if he doesn't then pursue other options. I guess it comes down to how much money we are talking about.

If you look at replies #5 and #10 you will see the OP has already gone down that route. I find opening a dispute focuses the mind and you will get compensated one way or the other that way.

Thanks for all the reply guys. Finally got sorted thursday, at first i felt sorry for the seller a bit as he said he did not know there was any other parts to it ! But after weeks of no reply to messages as he was supposed to be trying to get necessary parts to fit, i heard nothing !!
so after his threat of eBay action i thought f*** you, great idea and did the same. I received a message from eBay saying that they had sided with the seller but i could appeal so rang ebay up lady on the end of the phone said all was fine, they had reviewed my case and had given me a full refund :)
Thanks again
