Anyone here using LED headlights in their Tenere ?
I am very unsatisfied with the stock Tenere headlights, installed a set of those high dollar Sylvania bulbs and they were deffinately better but they only lasted 6,000 miles and at $40 a set I really hate to buy another set. Way to many deer around here to be riding at night with such lousy headlights.

What I'm interested in is how do they work for night time riding ?
Or maybe you are using some other brand ?

The Cyclops LED setup is worlds better than stock at night, but still not perfect. It's mostly an issue while cornering and is a limitation of the stock headlight design. I've got the ever popular Rigid light bar waiting to be installed and I fully expect that to take care of it (and basically be unusable anywhere but the boonies).

Darryl and co. are good people, too. Go for it.

I have the Cyclops kit, it is great! The beam is wider, brighter, whiter and slightly taller than stock. 100% better than regular bulbs and I really don't feel the need to add any extra lighting. The only problem I had was that the lens caps did not fit quite as well as the stock caps. Chinese LED headlights may work just as well but I am doubtful of the quality and longevity compared to the Cyclops kit. Either way, I highly recommend the Cyclops headlight kit.

Hit up Tabasco here on the forum. He runs RIDEOnADV, and has a handlebar mounting solution. I have his brackets on my bike, along with a pair of 10W LED lights controlled by a Skene controller, and they fill in what the stock headlights miss when cornering.

::026:: For the Rigid Industries and Cyclops combination. I suggest using the Rigid fog lights (20 degree spread), I have mounted the lights with a right side bias. The Cyclops system is complete and top shelf.

Good Luck

I have also installed the cyclops light kit along with the rigid six inch led bar. During the day I run the rigid less with the green cover. People can see yo coming for a long distance. I can honestly say that the green light "catches" the attention of drivers trying to decide if they want to make that left hand turn or come out of a driveway. Green light has a wave length that causes all kinds of brain wave issues. When I was in bed, with a broken leg, I had plenty of time to research light wave patterns. Green light waves act like a marble in a tin can being shaken...not stirred!
At night i simply slide it off and I have nice white light. I have adjusted the led bar so that I rarely get someone flashing their lights at night but it "really" lights up the road. I have gone through all the hid stuff with my other bikes and this combination of lighting works the best for me.
Also, you can get a amber cover for fog conditions. That also works great. Both optional color covers, by rigid, have to be cut shorter to fit on the six inch bar.
I "highly" recommend both products.

I tried the Ebay LED's but not acceptable to me; light output not much if any better and heat dissipation and reliabllity would be a continuous worry in hot climates where I ride. So against my previous objections due to cost I ordered the Cyclops kit. Haven't installed them yet so can't comment on light output but wanted to post that you can get them cheaper from RMATV. $159 no tax, no shipping and $8 off your next order so $151 net.

Thanks for the link ! The Tenere requires the larger covers , the picture shows covers but they never mention the larger covers, just checking to be sure befor I order did your kit arrive with the required larger covers ? I rode about 100 miles after dark last night , with all the deer around here the stock Tenere headlights are just and accident waiting to happen.

Those are the larger covers in the photo, probably at least 3/4" deeper. Still a tight fit but with a little manipulating you'll get everything inside. I haven't done a real night ride yet since installing but the light output in a dark garage is impressive and no comparison to the
Ebay LED's. I rode for 20 minutes at dawn yesterday and can tell they are a worthwhile upgrade and improvement. But now those marker light bulbs look so dingy and yellow in comparison my OCD side will be forced to install LED's there also.

Below is the link to another forum thread for those marker lamps.

The Rocky Mountain ad doesn't show the replacement covers, does the kit actually come with them?

When I click on the links the covers are in the pictures, but yes the website needs some work, the required larger covers are never mentioned on the site, and after the order was complete I got a few emails making it sound like the $160 order was for one lightbulb .

Those LED bulbs are supposed to last 30,000 hours ! Wow at 50 mph that would be 1,500,000 miles, by then my Tenere might be worn out .

The Cyclops LED headlight kit arrived today, installed them tonight, took me well over an hour to install them, rode to town about 12 miles in the dark, wow they are a major improvement ! Both high and low beam are greatly improved ! No more bare spots where the stock H7 setup did not light up the road.
Has anyone tried adjusting the headlights ? With the old stock bulbs I thought maybe they should be adjusted a little higher and now with the new LED's it seems even more like maybe they should be adjusted a little higher.

I noticed the same but have only ridden in the dark for a couple hours. Stock bulbs used to light up the street signs on side of the road up high on high beam but the Cyclops have lowered (or changed spread) of high beam height quite a bit. Next ride I'm going to try high beams with oncoming traffic and see if I bother others and get flashed. If not then wow even a bigger improvement if I can ride with high beams on.

On narrower 2 lane roads the stock high beams weren't so bad but on the wider state highways high beams would reflect off the signs a half mile away but the light was useless because the road was not lighted worth crap, in my opinion the new LED's work 100% better on both high and low beams, unless some unexpected issues pop up I highly recommend switching to the Cyclops LED kit For anyone that plans on doing some night riding. Supposedly the bulbs are rated for 30,000 hours and at 50 mph that should mean about 1,500,000 miles, the last set of bulbs I should need to buy for the Tenere and they are great !

Installed my Cyclops kit today. Better, whiter light. There doesn't seem to be any increase in distance but the side to side illumination has increased a lot. Adjusted them up a little. May need some more fine tuning but I like them so far.

What size-type wrench did you use to adjust the headlights higher ? I had to use a mirror and a flashlight to actually see the adjustment screws, the nut drivers I have are to long to fit in there, i have sockets that should fit in there but it sure would be nice to know the actual size of the nut first.
