Any last minute pre-inspection or test ride items from any expert inmates that I should be on the lookout for prior to closing the deal on the Gen 1 that I am going to pick up tomorrow?

It is a one owner 2013 with 15K miles that has been meticulously cared for and maintained from all of the info, pictures & discussions I have had with the seller thus far.

Has original clutch basket & CCT and has only been used for slab touring.

Thanks for any words of advice you may have.

Signed,

One stoked 44 yr old who is finally going to own a Super Tenere after almost 6 years of waiting.

I have a 2013 with 12,700 miles, original clutch and cct. No issues yet. Love the bike. I guess just check usual wear items like tires and such. Brakes are cheap and easy to change. You can tell who takes care of their stuff and who doesn't.

Leak checks on the forks, rear shocks and Final Drive for a start.

Instrument buttons and functions all working. There are 3 buttons, 2 front and 1 on the LHS for Traction Control.

Clutch levers are not tight and should be easy to depress and be consistent.

Start up the engine and check if the engine is running normally, stable idle speed at 1100 rpm. The S10 engine is not smooth like a 4 cylinders and can be harsher sounding...so it maybe pretty subjective here. Maybe listen to some YouTube to get an idea first.

All spokes accounted for on the wheels and they are not bend or loose. Rims are ok and no damages.

Old GreyDog (my awesome bike) is a '13 bought new. I had to replace the battery a few weeks ago, but then I live in the frozen north. Awesome bike. No other issues. Routine maintenance. YOu can't go wrong. Good luck. R ::008:: ::022::

As above, congrats and be sure to look closely at spokes/rims, brakes/suspension and most importantly the camchain tensioner. My '12 recently slipped time and bent 4 exhaust valves. YES stepping up with rebuild but downtime sucks. Have fun!

Hey Chris,

No not Edgemere...seller met me in Harrisonburg, VA with it today...he lives further up in the sticks over there.

Was the Edgemere one you speak of a Matte Grey 2013 on Craigslist a couple weeks back?

Here she is...

Will need some brake pads pretty soon (rears appear thin to me)...that is the only thing I found...original owner took VERY good care of her

Didn't realize we had another Marylander.
Many thanks!!
Unfortunately I will only be in MD for another month and then we make our way back to MT. My 4 year HQ staff tour has come to an end.

Somehow my computer jumbled up your post. Fixed it for you.

I've spent time in both those states, so the typo was obvious. ;D
