Labor Day Weekend ride to Kinzel Lake - Mt. Hood, Oregon

I rode to Kinzel Lake earlier this summer and it was a great ride. Is anyone interested in doing this ride over the weekend, or perhaps a ride up, camping at the lake overnight and riding back the next day?

It's a 10 mile forest road up to the lake. It takes about one hour each way from US 26.

Portland Super Tenere Labor Day RTE (Ride to Eat)
Monday morning, breakfast at the Tollgage Inn in Sandy, OR at 9am.
38100 U.S. 26, Sandy, OR 97055

Then at 10 am, we ride up Mt. Hood and have sack lunch at Kinzel Lake. Hang around for a bit and then head back down the mountain. Google says it's a 1-hour ride but plan on 2 as the road is just right for motorcycle fun and it takes about an hour to cover the 10 miles up to the lake. Maybe we can talk Kevin into bringing his kit for synching throttle bodies and spend the rest of the afternoon at my shop in Sandy doing tech stuff.

It looks like good weather for tomorrow's ride up to Kinzel Lake near Government Camp on Mt. Hood. We'll start with breakfast at the Tollgate Inn in Sandy, OR. It's fine if you can only come for breakfast. Afterwards we'll head up to Government Camp where we'll head up a Forest Service road 11 more miles to the Lake.

Conditions: It will be cooler as we gain altitude so be prepared for temps in the low 60s. It rained on Saturday so there will be little dust. Most of the road is gravel so we don't expect any muddy or swampy stretches. There are no water crossings. 90/10 tires can make the ride but you'll be more comfortable on 50/50 tires. This is an unmaintained road so there are some rough sections.
