Seth Laam broke away from Bill Mayer to start his own shop. My brother has been talking with him about building a custom seat for his KLR. In addition to being a nice guy, the seat would only cost about $250 - not bad for a custom seat. It might cost more for the S10, but at least there is another option out there.

I am not affiliated with Laam. (I have a Russel on my steed and love it.) Just thought another inmate might want to be the Tenere guinea pig.

Has anyone gotten a Laam seat? The seats and prices on his website look very good...

I was thinking the same thing. I have Bill Mayer right now and while better than stock it still doesn't work for me that well. I was a little worried that a Laam seat would be similar and also not work for me. After sitting on another Forum Members bike a couple weeks ago, I am having Tom Simmons in Arkansas build a seat for me.

I had a Biil Mayer seat and loved it. I just sent Laam an email and if the deal is as good as it looks, I'll ship him a seat out tomorrow.

Seth Laam actually worked for Rick Meyer (Bill and Rick are brothers). I did a ride in to Seth's shop in Redding, CA and spent the next 5 hours watching him build 3 seats (2 for an FJR and 1 for my C14). His workmanship is outstanding and the seats are guaranteed for life. It's easily the best seat I have ever owned and since then 5 of my friends have bought Laam seats. My Tenere seat will be next, I prefer to do a ride in the next time I will be in the area but it really isn't necessary. Just call him on the phone, tell him your weight and other details and mail the seat to him.

Thanks for the info. Actually just had a long phone conversation with him. In addition to being very knowledgeable he's also extremely enthusiastic and has very good prices so I'll be giving him my business. ::008::

Haven't made formal introductions yet...escapefjrtist reporting in!

FJR Laam seat '007 is referring to. Been comfortable since the beginning, continues getting better with each mile. SO is particularly happy with the fit of the pillion seat!

Seth just sent me a pic of my seat under construction. He's waiting for the heat element to arrive before fitting the new cover.
