I still have an 09 KLR-650 that I use regularly for a work bike. It's farkled out about as much as it can be and pretty much can carry a Buick if I need too. As far as comfort goes, It fits me well. I've done a few 3500+ mile rides and a 6,000 miler (with extra oil) ((OK lots of oil)) and have no comfort issues except for wind noise. I had MAJOR electrical problems in the most remote parts of Labrador the first year until I rewired the whole frigging bike. You have no idea how close this bike almost became part of the Atlantic Ocean.(smiles) It's been reliable as a morning dump since then. Did a valve adjustment at 17,000 miles. It was a little tight so new shims brought it back to happy "slappy valves".
Although I have the S10 now, I still like to ride the KLR and at almost 40,000 miles, it's still fun. If it had just 3X the power it'd be my first choice.
