If I may dare to wade into the fray, here ...... if you (anyone) prefer not to buy products made in China just on principle, that's fair enough. No worries. I totally support you on that. However, keep in mind that any product made in China is made to the specifications of the parent company. So if Chinese "junk" is indeed finding it's way into the public domain, it is because the parent company, whatever it may be, allows their products to be made this way. It is because they supply inferior materials and/or do not demand high quality construction. The Chinese workers will, I'm sure, build stuff any way they are instructed to with what they are given. The concept of "quality control" depends on the level of quality you wish to control. If the Chinese products are indeed junk, then it is very likely because the American or Canadian company that pays them allows it to be so.
I personally refuse to wear the top sporting goods brands like Nike and other such stuff simply because of the obscene prices they charge. A $400 pair of shoes??? Really? Some little 12 year old girl made them at a cost of about 8 bucks to Nike. To some extent, you get what you pay for, but you also get what you are willing to buy. Whoa, that was heavy. Or perhaps not. OK, just sayin'. Remember, there is a lot of North American crap out there, too. R ::021:: I hope I won't be punished for posting this. Remember, I'm old.
p.s. ... I have Klim Travers pants. So far, so good.
