Is there anyway to convert my metric speedo to miles per hour on a 2022 S10? I leave my bike in Arizona and the Canadian insurance company is telling me I should get insurance from an American company. To do this I need an American title and MPH speedo. Thanks

As stated, can not be switched.
I even went to the trouble of buying and installing a speedometer head for a USA bike, and it still would not switch. I believe the switching logic is in the ecu.

Have you talked to an American insurance company? They will insure drivers that don't have any driver's licenses. I don't know why they would require a US title as long as you can prove it's yours. Another option might be "travel insurance". If I went into Mexico, I could get a separate rider for out of the country.

Interesting that 1st gens can be switched back and forth and the 2nd gens can't.

Unless they specified that the speedo had to be factory, there are several aftermarket speedometers that can be mounted on the handlebars that work very well.

I used to use a bicycle speedometer on my V-Strom since their speedometer was pretty far off. It worked fine, though it was a little slow; the sampling rate for the computer wasn't designed for higher speed., so there was always a little delay before the computer would register the speed. I suspect, though, that if this is actually an insurance requirement, anything jerry-rigged isn't going to satisfy the requirement.

I think before I started spending money on aftermarket accessories, different instrument pods, etc, I'd be calling an insurance agent in the US and start asking them the "how and why" questions.

There is this, though:

Guys on the V-Strom forum used to buy them to correct the really incorrect speedometer. It also converts KPH to MPH.

I think it's even weirder that US Gen 2s can and Canada's can't. But I guess it's not any worse than Yamaha's inconsistency with available colors and the "red key".

This is what I'd suggest you verify. I've never had an insurance company ask me about my speedo.
Or are you saying you need a MPH speedo to get a title in US?

Yes the bike needs to be inspected and has to have a US speedo in mph to get a title. Any suggestions for an aftermarket speedo? Thanks

If the ECU controls MI v. KM, it may be easier and cheaper to get the ECU flashed. If they can change the throttle and engine braking, they might be able to switch the speed reading. Might even be able to make it switchable. Can't hurt to call one of the reputable ECU flashers.

For actual day to day use, I would do a motorcycle GPS like a Zumo. If that isn't good enough for inspection/insurance, I would temporarily thow on a cheap dirt bike gps with a magnetic pickup at the wheel
