not kidding. Why don't I take off? I do, last summer it was a 4000 mile trip. But I also work 6 days a week year round, so taking enough time to hit Alaska or similar hasn't happened to be possible.

I run K60's so I don't have to change tires often. I'm not riding
a sport bike any more . Just rode 14 hours today from Ashville NC
( blue ridge parkway all the way) to Hanover Pa. Got 18,000 miles
on my front tire. Not sure if it will last rest of summer ::012:: Got a
used backup ready to go on ::008::

Bummer. I hope you can find more time in the future. I stopped using bikes to commute in '93. Not worth it. All my rides are fun rides now. Heading up to Salina, UT tomorrow to ride the dirt frontage road out East as far as it goes. Just something to explore, old tunnels, wayside stops, streams and rivers. I've seen it from the I-70 freeway every time I've gone out that way and always wanted to explore it. Might run South on Gooseberry after to Fish Lake. Perfect type of trip for K60s. 200 miles of interstate, followed by 20 miles of easy gravel/dirt, with a possible 50 more miles of gravel to explore.

commuting to work on a motorcycle might be the only reason some people ride to work. Also, not much for gravel or dirt roads in south east Wisconsin, and, like I said, if I go ride the Trans Wisconsin, or something similar, I will just buy a different set and mount them up.

First 100kms on my new K60 and they have made an impression. So far very rough at low speeds, bike falls into slow corners. Very good on muddy dirt road and gravel. Fine on the highway and up to 130kmh. I hope the hard walls soften a bit as I bike is no longer smooth. I'll see how they after 1000kms.

Since putting on the K60s I have noticed my TC light flash more often than on the Battlewings. I understand they won't have the same grip but I was surprised on dry pavement Pulling away from a stop with a good amount of throttle the TC light is flashing. If it didn't have the light I would have no idea it was doing anything. No wiggle or slip at all. Anyone else experience this? I have about 500 Miles on the K60s so far. Running about 40 PSI rear 36PSI front.
I had a similar issue when I put the TKC80's on my XTZ... TC light would flash on tarmac though I did not appear to be spinning the back tire on acceleration. TC flashing went away after about 200 miles on the TKC80's (that is unless I was on dirt and expected the slippage).

Perhaps the TC is uber-sensitive and sensed the flex of the nobs.

That slippage with the TKC80 was the breakin period of the tire. All tires have this and it is the reason that your dealer should be telling you to take it easy when you leave on a new set of tires. At least they come to grips.

Or haven't any of you figured out yet that the TCS light is a dollar sign, as in your dollars flying down the road out of your pocket on the way to buying a new tire.
Thank God I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford to motorcycle in an enjoyable manner!

I have gotten use to putting new tires on my bike every season...don't really care if I my riding style wears them out quickly. If I was worried about cost of riding I go get a 250.

You either love or hate this tire it seems. I don't think the reviews were exaggerated, everything I have heard is true. I think the confusion comes from one's interpretation. What one person thinks is good road handling is horrible to someone else. Same goes for noise, wet wet performance etc.

I agree! I just go farther. ::003::

@offcamber - Ouch!! If that was all I could ride, I'd go back to convertibles.

I'm confused. I commute on my bike to make going to/from work "fun"!

Some days it takes me over 2 hours to do my ~24 mile commute :).

200 miles interstate :'( I'd rather have a convertible for THAT.

A riders skillset has a lot to do with preferences when it comes to tires, suspension, power, etc.

I noticed something else today riding in the rain. Slowing down from 50mph to make a right turn using engine and brakes to slow, the TC light flashed. Does TC activate with engine braking or is it the ABS kicking in?

From the OP's comments and others, there must be a large variation in how TC1 works. I installed a K60 less than 120 miles ago and have never seen the TC1 light come on. I went back out today and tried to make it come on on dry pavement - nothing, nada. I can get the TC1 to light up on my driveway, which is hardpacked gravel, but I can feel the tire spin and I can get it to step out to the side like others describe TC2 ?!

I was sceptical too but it happens. In normal riding it doesn't happen to me as I am quite conservative. If I accelerate hard though the light comes on. I don't think it is the tread pattern mainly but a result of the harder compound. Going to interesting to see what they are like on wet tarmac.
