So I finally decided to sell my 2011 VStrom 650 and buy a Tenere, now I hear that there might be a "refresh" of the Tenere in 2014. ::010:: If this is true I might wait and see what this "refresh" entails, but when will Yamaha announce it?

Don't let that stop you from buying a motorcycle built for roads where you live. It is still a great motorcycle and should perform very well more many years to come.

::026:: Just do it! These are wonderful bikes as they stand right now. The "refresh" is nothing more than an Internet rumour anyway.

I would suggest you ::021::

Just buy the bike, I found a deal I couldn't pass up and forgot all the hype about the "new" Tenere (and the the new V-strom for that matter)

It could well end up being a more road orientated and watered down version with a sportier engine like the Tiger. ???
What makes the current version so great is probably why it hasn't sold as well as the Tiger.

I haven't seen sales numbers of S10 vs. Tiger Explorer, but the Explorer has two versions, one road oriented one off-road oriented (as much as it can be). I'd be curious to see how the Explorer is selling in its two forms vs. the S10. The S10 should offer two versions as well, since the difference is mainly wheels and tires, and possibly suspension tuning.

One thing is for sure, with the release of the new GS engine, Yamaha needs to bump up the stock power!

For all those owners who find themselves flat out in top wishing they had another 30BHP ::)

Not to mention a highly tuned fragile engine which does less to the gallon and costs a fortune to service, I can't wait ;D

You could argue that Yamaha do produce two models, the S10 and the S10 Worldcrosser. Only cosmetic but so is the Triumph in reality.

And how many recalls has the BMW had since its launch? I can tell you from a long standing recovering GS head, that the kinks never get worked out until year 3 for BMW. The R1100, the R1150 and the R1200, pretty sure the Wet Head will be consistent there also.

Recall #1 Transmission Oil Pressure recall (Oil restrictor need to be installed to keep the engine from going Ka-Bang)

Recall #2 ASC Recall (traction control was not functioning in certain modes / Software issue)

Recall #3 Telelever recall (Bike were unridable until special tooling was done were the telelever meets the steering plate)

Recall #4 Upper Front fork tubes were loosening at triple clamp (That's very bad ::010::)

The new WC GS is also having lots of problems with the gearbox, at least one UK owner has actually sent the bike back to BMW and many more are very unhappy, the switchgear was also a problem that affected many bikes.

As ever "fixes" such as running with barely any oil in the engine are considered fine by the BMW faithful - and of course all of these issues only affect a very small percentage of bikes, and they sell oh so many blah blah blah

My mates Triumph has just gone back to Triumph for a new cylinder head (a common problem and Triumph have been taking a fair number of bikes back to replace the entire cylinder head) but interestingly they also put a new FD on claiming it had "corrosion" although he swears it did not - and the bike was not ridden in winter and only has about 2k on the clock - and we slavered it in ACF-50 when it was new and again in the spring - makes me think they have also had some issues here and are trying to fix them up before they get reported as having a weak FD.

The Japs sure are expected to be far better than the Europeans, can you imagine the press slating the Yamaha would have got with these sorts of problems.

Quite a bit more than that (from a reliable source). Whatever it is, I will keep my 2012, as I have done so much to make it perfect for me.

Yeah, that was me this morning, There I was leaving everything on the road way behind, in no time, doing 180K/h burning of the last of the regular gas (petrol) and I thought, damn this thing needs more power. ::025::

It is a strange thing though. I can understand people on 250cc bikes maybe wanting more power but jeebus.

Anyway, I really think that in some countries it is now more about "Sports bikes that you can live with" more than anything else, and that isnlt all bad, assuming someone is left doing "Dirty Touring Pigs"

Maybe YAMAHA is happy following Suzuki's lead. Just keep them reliable, applicable and pick up those that have had it with the bleeding edge treadmill of broken parts and empty pockets. Until people get over the fact that there is more to engineering than shiny paint and bells and whistles then that is the way it may have to be.

Anyway, Congrats to BMW for taking over the crown from Harley in the unreliability stakes. They deserve all the recognition they can get for that. People obviously think that is worth the money. It gives them an excuse to trade every three years.

This P.O.S. YAMAHA isn't going to make it easy, I can just feel it in my bones..

Actually the best thing about tonight was the unseasonal warm temps. There is something special about cruising along in the warm night air listening to the rhythm of this motor, just effortless at sane speeds. No need to rush and make the trip shorter. Almost made me forget about the wildlife, almost.

Go get one and start riding it.
Life is short and these bikes are going to last as long as many other bikes if not longer.
One day waiting is one less day riding, I love my Raven Black beauty.
Even sitting in the garage it looks awesome.
Done yet? a bike salesman needs to make a living too. ::021::
