Just finished a 90 mile ride through the Santa Monica mountains in sunny Ca. This bike just keeps getting smoother and smoother with the miles ! 3500 and I swear it's getting great mileage and carving the canyons with a very secure and comfortable ride.like you guys told me ::021::.

That smoother and smoother trend continues until about 5000 miles, then it just levels out.

Glad you're enjoying the ride so far, it will get even smoother.

Mine's doing the same thing. If it's anything like my [3] FJR's, it takes between 8 - 9K for these things to break in thoroughly and really smooth out. Now only if I had a little more snap in touring mode...

I agree... ::021::

Usually between 4-6k. Mine was pretty dramatic around 6k as I was on a 4k mile trip and I could feel it getting smoother daily as i approached 6k.

I had a custom re-flash done for that very purpose. More power throughout the range in T mode including down low. Theres a bike in southern Wa that has the same set up.

I have 4000 plus on mine now, and its getting better but I wish the mileage would improve...35.5 mpg is the best I seem to get...A Gen II reflash seems to not have improve the mileage per gallon....

I know it's on a post here somewhere but who in Ca. And what's the cost for the flash ? I would like to remove a little of the harsh engine braking the S10 seems to have. ::26::

Thanks! If I could get a flash that suited *my* wants, I'd probably spend the $$$ for it.

I sat on the fence about the flash for quite a while, but I finally had it done and it's worth the money.

I swear mine continued the smoothing trend up to about 8,000 miles. Then I flashed it around 10K I think, and it was like getting a whole new bike again...

I certainly won't argue with anyone on the mileage point of the smoothest ride. For me, I was able to compare the new Tenere to the one my wife heartlessly stole from me. That first one had over 10K miles when it was ripped from my possession. The new bike was stiff and sluggish compared to the broken-in bike. The differences were unmistakable. It was somewhere around the 5K mark when the newer bike was the equal to the original bike.

Then you have a much better point of reference than I do. It's all about perception, and I remember at around that 8K mark I changed the oil and we were coming into cooler weather so it may have skewed my perception of smoothness vs the bike breathing something other than 95 degree air at 95% humidity...

I remember thinking mine finally broke in at around 8,000 and leveled out in its smoothness.
But yesterday we rode 200 miles after being snowed in for a while, The bike has 63,500 miles and I told Michelle " Do you feel how crystal smooth this thing is? " IT has never run better ever, I think it just gets better every time I get to ride it. I need a vacation.

I have 21,000 miles on mine, and it does continue to improve.

WRT the ECU Unleashed Flash. I had mine done earlier this year. I wish I had not waited so long. That is the single best $450 I have spent on this bike, or maybe any bike. Made a HUGE difference in how the motor feels.
