Moderators, I know you will be moving this, but I wanted everyone that may have this system, but may not monitor the luggage section to see this.

Several weeks ago I had some metal squeaking noise from the area of my Jesse 45l top box mount. I could not find the source at the time, including taking the rear of the bike apart. I just got back from a 900 mile trip, and found the source partially through the trip. The Jesse QRDP mount, which was purchased two years ago is cracked. And as you can see in the included picture, failure of the metal. Possible metal fatigue, which for a mount on our bikes is unacceptable. The top box has about 10-15K miles on the bike, as I do not always have it on. About 15 miles of dirt with it on. And usually 10-15 pounds of weight in it.

I just sent an email to Jesse and will see where they are going with it, but it looks like I need to find a different mount that is stronger.

The picture is of the bottom of the mount. And you can see the impressions of the four screws that attach the plate to the bike.

Bumot makes one that is VERY stout if you need to go in a new direction.

Same thing happened to my QRDP I had 3500 miles on mine when I noticed it. They sent me a new one for my Gen 2 tighten the two rear bolts first and there was a gap between mount and front spacers when you draw them down it stresses the front of mount. There fix was assortment of shiming spacers. Jesse luggage told me there must be a difference between Gen 1 and 2 tail sections. That's why we been getting some cracked mounts. Really!

After looking at this, I went out and checked my generation 1 mount and gearhead1200 is right. I losened up all the bolts and when I tighten the rear first there is a gap in the front spacers. A couple of washers fixed it. No cracks in mount.

Thanks for this info. The way this cracked, is the way I would expect with your description. I still have the instructions, and nothing in them about needing to shim it. And I did not check for this when I originally mounted it. I guess I am still a bit leary if they offer to replace it as I would expect the bolt holes to be elongated more and no/minimum cracking if the metal was the correct strength. Again, this bike is for rough service, and it appears the mount isn't. The boxes are great though.

My bike is a Gen 1.

Just got a call from Jesse's, and they are stepping up to the plate ::012::. Like gearhead1200, they are sending me a new one, with different length bolts and spacers. The mount is a new version of what I had, due to the cracking issue. Not sure when they made the change, as I have had mine for two years.

The only thing they are asking for is pictures of the new installation on what bolts I use and what spacers I may need to use. With that, they will include that (and correct parts) in the instructions for new purchases for the Tenere.

Friendly people on the phone, finding out of an issue, and hopefully resolving it. Working with the customers. Can't ask for anymore.

Gearhead1200 they are looking for you to call and give them feedback on your installation of the new one.
