i installed the $1500 jesse safari 9" bags today. all of the hardware was present, but i only found 1, yes 1, key. the last jesse bags i installed about 10 years ago came with 2 or 4 keys, but definitely more than one. no worries. i just need to go get a few more made.
there was one minor issue with the instructions, but over all, the instructions were spot on. the mounts went on quickly and nothing needed tweaking, adjusting or grinding of any kind. the bag install went smoothly.
the view from the front shows the bags are pretty snug to the lines of the bike...
the bags look a lot wider from the rear, though. i reckon i'm just used to seeing the bike without the bags.
and here's my nit with the bags - they sit HIGH! i'd much prefer them flush with the rear seat or a little lower...
one thing i noticed is that the bags are not heavy at all. when i moved the boxes from the driveway into the garage i was surprised how light they were. and i know i'm not any stronger than i was 10 years ago. quite the contrary. lighter than expected bags is a good thing.
the bags attach to the mounting brackets using a grooved block on the bottom and a single cam lock on the top. easy on off, for sure. i would like to have two cam locks on the top, though. a little redundancy would be nice. if the top cam lock fails, it's bye-bye-baggy. i have no reason to believe the bags will fail, but perhaps others have some experience here. eventually, these bags are going to take a beating.
$1500 is a lot of money. are the bags worth that price tag? time will tell.
