A Tenere to be exact.

Herding Turkeys

Wildlife is always ready to jump in the road around here. I wasn't all that surprised to find these in my way yesterday.

When you can no longer run... fly!

Last May I had a similar experience with cows on Indian Valley Road near Vineyard Canyon Road, San Miguel CA. They would not stop running until I passed them. Did not have the GoPro mounted.

Neither did I. They were so uninterested in getting away quickly that I had time to stop, grab the iphone and then follow them (harder than it sounds).

I ran up on two deer day before yesterday. The doe ran off the side right away, but had to follow the young buck what seemed like a 1/4 mile before he jumped off the side.

nice one Dirt D. - silly birds!! Here's one from my recent trip - not so much herding in this one though. Gotta be easier walking the road rather than bushwacking. He ran into the woods after the other car passed but came right back and continued down the road a while. :)

Doesn't he know pedestrians are supposed to walk against traffic flow? ;)

Cool video. That's a good sized bear. I've only seen one while riding. Momentum carried a small bear off the hillside next to the road on Skyline Drive. He was trying to stop before getting to the road, but having a hard time. He missed the front wheel of my wife's Spyder by about 1 foot. She was so startled that she was turned around looking at it and heading for the traffic coming the other way. Fortunately I got her attention through the blue tooth headset.

Be careful out there. Them animals are everywhere.

I managed to get a turkey in the windshield of my F150 at 40-45 MPH. I'm amazed it didn't come through or break the glass. He was attempting to gain altitude but didn't pull it off. We have all sorts of critters in the road around here, including Emus!
