Yep I love that concept stuff too. Necessity being the mother of invention ... we'll be seeing so much more of this type of thing in the very near future. I'll keep on biking though. ::008::

This has been around for a few years now. They are based in San Francisco, CA. That's one reason they mention lane splitting as one of the advantages of the C1.

It's a good urban commuter concept. Look around you in traffic on any day and probably 90% or better of drivers are solo, often in huge SUVs in the US. It's pretty silly really. I drive a Smart now, but am also married and work from home, so it works great as a city car for the runs into town for shopping with both of us or just running errands by myself. At 40-50 mpg, it's comparable to using the bike, but I don't have to gear up and have far more cargo capacity. The Lit C1 has a reverse too, which for urban traffic/daily commute needs would be a nice thing. Great for people that have to dress for work and don't see a Stich onesy as a real option.

Then there is the electric aspect of it. ~200 mile range @ 65mph cruise is pretty good by today's standards, even for electric motorcycles. 4-6 hours to charge, so even with a long commute, you could potentially plug in a work on 110v and be fully charged when you leave. 800# curb weight, top speed of 100 mph. The price is the show stopper for the masses though, $20,000-$25,000. They hope to lower that to $12k if production numbers get high enough, but I think that's unrealistic unless they prove to be successful over 4-5 years or more.

Monotracer. Someone around Richmond, VA has one. Looks like fun
That and it's predecessor the Ecotracer were regular powered bikes, though they talked about an electric version at one time. They were all horribly expensive.

It does bring up the question of if the Lit C1 leans at speed. You'd think it would have to, but I have no idea how the gyros deal with that. It does appear to lean.

Another thing I notice is that it will be HOT inside on sunny days. I hope they plan on at least a sun shade for the transparent roof. The Smart is quite an oven on sunny days with it's greenhouse. I suppose the C1 could have electrically powered a/c, it's just more weight and a condenser unit with some airflow to it.

yea...my thoughts too. That Monotracer looks like it can make its way around a track fairly well..

No go for me. Price tag is the first thing to scare people away. Second: this thing will never be a commuter. Take a look at those tires. Those will cost a fortune. I will take Smart over this thing any day.
