Is the Yamaha top box strong enough?

I've had my new S10 a month and I get along fine with the factory side cases and am considering a top case. My wife will ride pillion only if she has something to lean back against, will the Yamaha box support that type of load? If not, can someone suggest a top box that will, please.
We had a Givi box on our KLR and she quickly popped the plastic tabs out of the mounting plate, and I see the Yamaha box also uses plastic tabs, although from the photos they appear much stronger.
Is there a backrest pad that works well with the box?

This Givi rack has mounting buttons that are aluminum, held in with steel screws, it's very stout. I've been using Givi Trekker cases (the original models, not the outback versions) and can't imagine the case pulling off those buttons with a passenger leaning back a bit.

I've never heard of anyone breaking the Yamaha top box setup from leaning against it, seems plenty strong to me, but several top box and saddlebags have been broke from tipovers , other than the crappy locking system im pretty well satisfied with my yamaha bags.

I dumped my '14 S10 with a loaded Yamaha top case. the case ended up taking most of the impact. the top popped open, but it didn't come off or damage the mount. The lid is a bit wonky now, but still closes and seals but when you open it, the right side pops up about 2 inches higher than the left and you can see where the aluminum skin got sort of stressed on the lid. I was surprised as to how well it held up.

I had a stock top box for awhile and it was pretty strong. I now have a Bumot and I think you could pick the bike up with the top box, definitely more stable, but I think the stock one will easily take a passenger leaning on it.

The label in the box warns of a maximum weight limit of 11lbs. The box looks strong enough, but I am suspicious of how it mounts to the bike. That , to me, appears to be the weak link. Was planning to only get the side bags, but stumbled across a deal for all three for half of the m.s.r.p.

I had the OEM sidecases and top box on my 2013. I found someone on this website that made a backrest (had to drill the box and it mounted with bolts) for $50. I rode gravel roads and jeep trails with the sidecases off but the top box on and had no problems. Passenger leaning against it with no problems. Hated the cheap locks and the fact that you had to use the key to access the bags. I ended up switching to Bumot. Much studier and a bit larger but somewhat heavier. I like them much better.

You can go with just a backrest too, don't have to have a box to do it.
