My owners manual has a notice on page 7-15 that says "In order to prevent clutch slippage (since engine oil also lubricates the clutch), do not mix any chemical additives. Do not use oils with a Diesel specification of "CD" or oils of a higher quality than specified. In addition, do not use oils labelled 'ENERGY CONSERVING II' or higher." Section 9 of my manual also says that 10-40 is the minimum viscosity. This is for a 2016. Your manuals may vary.I have run Rotella diesel oil in EVERY bike I have ever had with great success. Thousands of riders with millions of miles can't be wrong.
Be careful, I suggested a few years ago that CD rated Rotella oil isn't recommended for these bikes, and I about got linched! My owners manual has a notice on page 7-15 that says "In order to prevent clutch slippage (since engine oil also lubricates the clutch), do not mix any chemical additives. Man I would LOVE to get a bike that high but I have this pesky habit of changing bikes every 3 or 4 years tops and although I ride nearly every day all year, its mostly commuting and errandes due to time restrictions.I think this is the real testament.
