I reside in South Australia and own a 2010 Super Tenere. Since I bought the bike new I have done some long distance riding through the states, Canada and back home in Australia over all types of road and track conditions. I have done six documented rides through the Iron Butt Association over the last two years and last week I took the challenge of another ride. This ride was to take me 1712 miles (2740 km.) in 24 hours from Port Augusta South Australia to Darwin in the Northern Terriotory. I will not bore you with the details of the ride but I missed the mark by 20 minutes. Over the 24 hours and 20 minutes on the bike I averaged slightly over 112 kph or 70 mph. I had 10 fuel stops with an average of 9 minutes per stop and while moving averaged 120 kph or 75 kph.
I could not have been happier with the performance of the bike, a larger tank would have been beneficial to help avoid the timely fuel stops, I carried 20 liters of fuel on the back seat as some petrol stops were 580 km apart due to the time of day that I was riding. I always ride with the stock seat and either use beads, lambs wool or both, on this ride I went with the lambs wool and could not have been more comfortable with the seat. I had four extra sets of LED lights to help spot the abundance of wildlife on the road at night and a taller windscreen were a few more of the modifications to the bike.
I will be attempting this ride again in a few months when the days are a little longer and the weather a little warmer. With what I learned from this past ride I have no doubt that I will be doing the distance in less then the 24 hours. I will also be running road tyres on the tenere next time I do the ride as the K60's that I use for all the off road riding I do were not suitable for the long distance.

Wow, that is simply amazing. I could never do that, especially on the stock seat. ::008::
